“Excellent Hotel in Galway City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

Booked the Forester Court Hotel for a hen night to Galway. From the time of booking to the end of our stay the staff were excellent. Very accommodating and extremely friendly. The hotel itself is in an excellent location within walking distance of bars, restaurants and shops. The rooms are on the small side but very clean and comfortable. Will definately be back here and would recommend to anybody to stay here!

“Nice hotel in great location”

Stayed here for one night in June. Asked for a nice quiet room and was given one at the back well away from the street.
The staff at reception, the bar, and the breakfast room were very friendly and accomodating.
Had dinner in the bar and it was exceptional. Parking is available in the multi-storey car park at the back of the hotel for €10 overnight.
The hotel is 2 minutes walk to Eyre square and the rail and bus station. It is also very easy to reach by car.
I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a nice city central hotel in Galway.

“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

We moved to this hotel because the one we were stopping in wasn't suitable. We were made welcome as soon as we arrived. While we waited for our rooms we were given complimentary tea and biscuits. The rooms were large, nicely decorated and clean. Flat screen TV in rooms. Tea making facilities, stocked up daily with tea/coffee,biscuits. Bathroom toiletries, etc. Newspaper. Every member of staff we came across was pleasant and helpful. There is good food available in the bar area and everyone is friendly. Internet cafe next door.

The area itself is convenient for everything with all the shops you could want and more. This is Eyre Square, Galway. Plenty to do and see. Marvellous atmosphere and good night life on the doorstep. Enjoy the buskers on Shop Street. The Galway tour bus stops outside the door with various other tours leaving from the new coach station two minutes walk away. Go on the Connemara tour or the Cliffs of Moher tour. Round the corner you can catch the bus to Rossaveer ferry for the Aran Islands. Bus Eireann or the number 1 bus goes to Salthill from Eyre Square which takes 15minutes. There is a cruise which leaves from waterside, city centre on the river Corrib and lasts one and a half hours.I would be happy to recommend the hotel to anyone as we could not find fault with any aspect during our stay of four nights.

“Great location & price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

We selected this hotel because of the following
1) it was in city center, with a nearby parking lot (private)
2) got a rate of E79/night, plus approx E10 for daily parking
3) good reviews on tripadvisor.

The hotel easily surpassed our expectations, with the friendly attitude of the receptionists our top memory of the hotel. The rooms were basic 4-star quality, with what we had come to expect in Ireland. But the best part was the location, which is just next to Eyre Square, which again is at the edge of the touristy center of the city. The parking is also extremely easy to get to. Although we circled the parking lot at the first time due to the confusing nature of city signals :-)

The hotel is next to a terrificly planned Visitor Info centre, which is much better than what you'll find in Dublin. The helpdesk there is very friendly and will guide you to both self-drive & private Connemara tours, if you need it. The Eyre square park is 2 minutes away. You'll easily find any number of eating joints nearby. A Subway outlet, a pub, an off-license, and a convenience store will greet you as you exit out of the front.

The reception people were very warm, and they each night enquired us about our day, and gave useful tips. The staff at the breakfast were also efficient & friendly, but the quality of breakfast was not upto the mark. Very limited choice in form of fresh fruits & cereals too. Although we were spoiled by the super B&B breakfasts for the earlier part of the trip, still they should take care of the breakfast spread better.

We had a great stay in Galway due to the easy parking, and good location of the hotel. So, I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel, specially if you're getting it at this rate. Another good choice for the city is Jury's Inn, which has an even better location, as its near the river. As it was above E100 when we checked, but you can check if they offer competitive rates.

For food options, the best North Indian we had was at Kumar's, a small eatery opposite to Jury's inn (but difficult to spot), Fat Freddie's is good enough for Italian (great atmosphere). The Kings Head pub for live music in evenings. McDonaghs for fish & chips, and Eddie Rockets for their fantastic nachos, onion rings, burgers & malt shakes. The main section of streets (Quay st, High st etc) was an excellent place to while away time, & the city has several warm bookshops to browse in, if your interest lies this way.

“Great Hotel”

We arrived at the Forster Court Hotel after traveling for 20+ hours from the US and the staff was wonderful, getting us into our rooms quickly and getting us some breakfast. The rooms were large and connected -- great for traveling family -- and we were very comfortable. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The hotel is centrally located, near the park and right in the heart of town, within walking to distance to everything. We really enjoyed our stay here and the value was excellent versus some of the more expensive hotels down the block.
