“So-So...”

The reviews seemed like it was a good choice for a 5 day stay. The room was nice--bright but had no airconditioning! Galway was warm when we arrived. There was only one window we could open to let air in--and that faced the bus station! --and the afternoon sun. As it was the only source of air, we could not close the window to keep-out the noise of the pedestrians and traffic below ( we were on the 3rd floor). I guess the way the buildings were situated, the acoustics were greatly enhanced. The only time some quiet was enjoyed was around 2am - 6am.
From the day we arrived until we left-the phone in our room did not work . If i wanted to make a local call--I had to go down to the reception desk. They tried to figure-out what was wrong, but eventually nothing was done.
The breakfast menu was nothing out of the usual. But I did notice that they were not in the habit of replenishing food items on the breakfast table. Breakfast starts at 7:15--if you came around 8am there would be hardly any fruit, yoghurt or pastries left.
Overall--i can't say that the Forster Court was exceptional. I liked that the bathroom had lots of counter space. It was good that the rooms were renovated--perhaps that was the only reason we decided to stay put. And that would be the only reason for any recommendation.

“Great Hotel with Fabulous Service”

We stayed here based on the Trip Advisor reviews and was not disappointed. Firstly the staff were fantastic and very friendly. We appreciated that. Our room was very clean - but not large. The bed comfortable. My wife was woken once during the night (we had a front room overlooking the street) but this didnt really detract from the stay. The car parking arrangements are onerous and with quite a bit of luggage it was a bit of a nuisance to drag our bags so far. We had to leave very early so didnt experience breakfast there. All up we thought it was very good and reasonable value - with the friendliness of the staff making up for any deficiencies.

“Warm Welcoming Staff, Lovely Hotel”

Recently visited Galway on a mini break, and we stayed at the Forster Court Hotel. The receptionist, known as K ( not sure if I can name her, due to privacy), on arrival was very warm and welcoming and went above and beyond- organizing for the porter to collect our luggage from the car and to assist in helping with parking it. She offered excellent advice on where to visit in Galway, filling us with brief history and local knowledge about each amenity
.
Upon arrival she mentioned dinner in their restaurant, which I have to admit, was fabulous. The menu offered a wide selection of mouth watering meals, from which I had the steak and my partner had the evening special. The portions were the perfect size to fill you, yet not leave you tired and drained in energy.

The hotel room was very spacious and spotless. The room was very tastefully decorated in line with many other up-market hotels. The room was located to the rear of the hotel and contrary to many reviews I read before the trip, it was lovely and quiet, and the best night’s sleep I have had in a long time. The breakfast was a sumptuous choice of a continental or a full Irish. I opted for the full Irish, which was the most generous breakfast I have had in a hotel. The breakfast staff were very warming and chirpy for that hour in the morning. I found the lady to be polite and courteous.

Again I must praise the staff at the front desk for all their assistance and kindness. The staff are truly an absolute credit to the management.
I shall be staying there again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

“Worth finding”

Somehow I managed to miss the Forster Court Hotel’s street address when booking so found myself driving round the Forster Court on the map which is a nearby housing estate. Eventually I gave up and phoned them. The receptionist pleasantly gave me concise directions to the public car park the hotel uses although finding the hotel itself on foot (in fact just round the corner) was a bit hit and miss. Once there, however, my wife and I had few criticisms. The room was a good size with an enormous and comfortable double bed and a large well laid out en suite with all the usual toiletries, although the furniture was a little shabby and the decorative finish was a bit rough in places. The room had a wall-mounted flat screen TV with all the Irish and the main UK channels, tea and coffee making facilities and I noticed a broadband connection for those who need it.. There was some outside noise, both traffic and late-night revelry, but what do you expect from a city centre location? The hotel is situated just round the corner from Eyre Square, the centre of Galway, with all the city's attractions within a quarter of an hour walk. The hotel has its own attractions too - a large, pleasant bar which also serves food and a restaurant with a very tempting menu which unfortunately we were unable to try as we were staying for only one night had had already booked for one of Galway's many excellent eating places. Next time, though, we have promised ourselves we will give it a go. If it is anything like the standard of the delicious full Irish breakfast (cooked to order, no dreadful buffet bar!) it will be very good. And finally, although we understood the parking charge to be 10 euro a night, the special rate for hotel guests turned out to be rather less than that. We paid a room rate of 110 euro and thought it really good value. We certainly hope to return for a longer stay.

Every encounter with the staff members at Forster Court was excellent. They were willing to go above and beyond to accomodate us and ensure our stay was comfortable. I really appreciated how friendly the front desk staff was; I felt like I was talking with an old friend! Everyone was so helpful and genuine- if I am ever in Galway again I know where I will be staying!!!!!!!!
