“good hotel pity about the location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

very disappointed in location right across from docks. Very noisy in the morning with all the trucks going to docks. We had booked a superior room and I had no complaints except for the Bathroom. It was in a very poor condition broken tiles and the one thing I love about a weekend away is a nice bubble bath with a relaxing glass of wine. Not in this hotel. On a positive note the staff were excellent, professional and very friendly. Had a meal in the restaurant and it was nice.

Dear 1965charlie,

I'm delighted to hear that the service and food at the hotel were to your liking. Our team work very hard to connect with all of our guests and to make you feel right at home from the outset.

Our location is normally a strong positive for our guests and it is unusual to have complaints about traffic to the docks in the morning time. The port is not very busy and it doesn't handle truck business. perhaps it was enterprise park traffic passing us by.

Perhaps on your next stay we could offer you a different room and keep you to the opposite side of the building to avoid early morning interuptions. Please be sure to mention it for future bookings so we can help in any way possible.

Kind regards,
Geoff Kinsella

Stayed in the Harbour Hotel for the first time July 2010, staff were excellent really friendly and helpful.
Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Plenty of choice for breakfast, which was all very tasty.
Location was great really handy for Shop Street, Quay Street and Eyre Square.
Hotel parking at reduced rate which really is a bonus.
Really positive experience and i will definitely be back to stay in the Harbour Hotel again.

“Simple things done right, nice furnishings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

Arrived late as I frequently do, check in was courteous and helpful, she asked if I needed a code to access the wireless network, which you'd normally only discover you haven't got once you've gone 3 floors to your room.
Room has some really nice furnishings in it, and a very comfy bed. Telly (which I don't tend to watch) is a basic CRT model, but there's a proper iron and ironing board and the usual tea-facilities.
There's a gym, sauna, jacuzzi and 24-hour room service, all for about €100 a night. Not bad.

“Attempted sophistication let down badly by late-night noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

Stayed for one night recently with family. Location good, staff very friendly. The room was fine and clean but way too hot. No air-con. Restaurant was nice and food good. However, all was let down by a crazy party they had booked in function room for a 2st birthday. Music in lobby very loud and drunken partygoers in bar and outside hotel. Noise went on until 3am and so we couldn't sleep as were above it all. Receptionist next day was apologetic and gave me 20 euro discount and explained they very rarely have parties but they really need to advise guests in advance if one is booked as accommodation is inadequate to shield guests from the effects. Also the staff on duty during party seemed inadequate in relation to number and rowdiness of partygoers. It's a shame but I wouldn't risk it again.

Dear BernieF,

I'm sincerely sorry that the group we had at our party on the night of your stay caused so much disruption. You will see that am19_91 had the same comment posted just before your own.

We had trued to contain the crowd for as long as possible within the hotel as we awaited their taxis to arrive and take them on their onward journeys. It's not something that comes up very often and we have parties at the hotel frequently. I think this was isolated as the group were exceptionally noisy on entering the streets.

I am sincerely sorry and have made direct contact with all those who brought the comments to my attention directly. I would call on you to do the same and I can take special care of you on your next visit to our city.

Kind regards,
Geoff Kinsella

“Very good hotel, recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

Stayed in the Harbour Hotel for one night. Upon check in, we were greeted by a very friendly girl. I wasn’t happy with the first room we were given (it was clean etc, I just preferred something a little bigger). I went back down to reception and asked was there another room we could have instead. She was extremely helpful, gave me three room options and sent me off with a key for each room so I could check them all out. We settled on room 308 which was on the top floor in the attic.
The hotel is located on the harbour, less than a five minute walk to Shop St and centre of Galway. It is located in a safe area also.
The room was very comfortable with a decent size tv etc. Room service was also very efficient. The breakfast was lovely too, a great selection. We wanted to stay another night here but unfortunately the hotel was booked out.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the harbour.
