I travel to Dublin every few years with my mum who is a Dubliner so that she can touch base and get back to her roots. All the family are now in the UK so in the past we have stayed in city centre hotels and had a reasonable but pricey experience. However now we will never stay anywhere except Azalea Lodge! Bernadette was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and her warm nature is reflected in the large , calm property that she owns with her husband.
The property is on the direct bus route from the airport and in to town and it couldn't have been easier to get around with our 3 day rambler bus pass! Though on a busy-ish road, the house is calm and quiet, light and airy. The high ceilinged bedrooms and bathrooms are neat and tidy with white cotton bedsheets and white fluffy towels and everything is SPOTLESS.
Breakfast was a relaxed affair in the charming dining room come lounge. The fruit salad was to die for and the bread selection a bit of a treat with Irish creamery butter! Add in a full Irish breakfast or cereal and yougurt and you are well set up for a day of sightseeing. Bernadette made a real effort to remember our names and details of what we had done the previous day which made us feel more than a nameless guest.
We always have great fun in Dublin and Azalea Lodge was the icing on the cake.
