“This is the only place I would stay in in Dublin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

Whilst not in the city center it is only a 20 minute walk to St STephens Green. The tradeoff is it is in a quiet and well established suburb of Dublin near consuls and embassies. Hence there are restaurants and cafes nearby. Our room was very quiet and ovelooked the back of the building and windows were double glazed. For a city hotel the rooms were big enough and well appointed Bathrooms were roomy and bed extremely comfortable. It is a very charactersitic Georgian townhouse . Breakfast is not inlcuded in room rate but at 10 euro is reasonable value. Tea and coffee are available in the lounge area all day. Lounge area is very relaxing

“Good value, beautiful location, solicitous staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

I've returned to Pembroke Townhouse several times. Lovely location and appointments, good breakfasts, though more fresh and varied fruit would be nice. They kindly accommodate my lactose intolerance by having soy milk on hand. Downsides are no free wifi (there is a charge, which at this point in time is ridiculous, as many B&Bs and most hotels have free wifi now); air does not circulate well in the back rooms; the front rooms get traffic noise from Pembroke Road. But all in all, if you get a quiet room away from the street, when they run specials Pembroke Townhouse offers very good value.

Dear Nazimova,
Thank you so much for writing about Pembroke Townhouse. We are delighted to to read that you enjoy staying with us and that you were happy to return each time and we are always happy to arrange the soy millk for you, thank you for commenting on it.
Thank you for your suggestions too regarding more varied fruit in the fresh fruit salad, we have just ammended how we make it and added some other fruit.
I am sorry that you are diassapointed with paying for wi-fi. Unfortunately, as we are an older building where we installed the wi-fi in recent years, where there was a very high cost attached to this, for a while, we must charge a fee.... I am sure we will waive this some day soon...
Hopefully we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back to Pembroke Townhouse in the future. Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

“Solid choice just off the tourist path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2010

My friend and I stayed at Pembroke Townhouse for one night on our last night in Ireland. Overall, this was great accommodation for our needs. The staff was friendly and were quick to provide us with nearby recommendations for food and drink - Millers Pizza was especially good, as was Bellamy's Bar, near the US Embassy. Furthermore, they were always happy to provide us with coffee and cookies outside of meal hours. Our room was clean and comfortable. My only complaint with the room was that there was neither a fan nor air conditioning. This is fine, but if it gets too hot, as it did during our stay, it can be tough to sleep.
The location was in a residential location near the tourist zone. I liked that we were somewhat removed but within easy walking distance from all the main tourist sites. I felt like we had our own private home in Dublin!
Overall it's a solid choice and I would stay there again.

Dear jasoncrh,
Thank you for posting your recent comments about Pembroke Townhouse.
We are glad that you felt our location is good and that we were a sold choice to stay, so that you would stay again.
We were also pleased to hear that you felt the accommodation good and our staff friendly, which I will be sure to pass on. We were curious that you enjoyed our local reccomdations and the coffee and cookies!!
I am so sorry that you felt the room hot while you stayed and that it caused discomfort without a fan or air conditoning. We experienced some unusually hot weather lately (the hottest June on record!!), which we are not used to, so are unfortunately not equipped to deal with. We purchased a few fans available for guest requests, but unfortunately not enough for every room. I apologize that this affected your stay.
I do hope you manage to return to Dublin in the future and if so, we would be delighted to welcome you back.
My best regards,
Fiona and all the team at Pembroke Townhouse

“beautiful accomodation in georgian Dublin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

My fiance and I stayed here for a long weekend. We were both very impressed with the Pembroke Townhouse. We were worried that the room might be tiny after reading reviews that said they were quite small but these worries were unfounded as the room was an ideal size. The townhouse was clean and tastefully decorated throughout, and the breakfast room was rarely busy. Breakfasts were delicious and we ordered something from the cooked breakfast menu every day. We also made use of the tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary cookies. The townhouse is a short 5 min stroll from some shops and restaurants; and a slightly further walk into the city centre - I would say about 20 mins to Grafton St but there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants on the streets around Merrion Square which isn't far away.

“Cute but very cozy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

It's in a nice area that's out of the tourist area so it has a true Dublin feel. Julia at the front desk is the nicest and the other staff is OK. It's a cute and cozy place but the rooms are a bit small and there's no air so it was a little hard to fall asleep.

They have a lot of tourist booklets and brew some nice coffee and cookies. There's a bar called Bellamy up the street that is great! The doors of Dublin in this area are also very nice and you can walk 15 mins to Temple Bar area.

I missed the breakfast so can't comment. Overall it's a cute place, just small.

Dear Jahjah01,
Thank you for your recent review of the Pembroke Townhouse.
We were pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and you felt the location was good and I pass on your kind comments to Julia.
I was disappointed to learn that you found it difficult to sleep with no air in the room. We have had an unusually hot spell in Dublin lately and it has been warm and humid, but I am sorry to hear your stay was uncomfortable.
Great that you enjoyed our local info and coffee and cookies in the lounge!
We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Pembroke Townhouse on another occasion.
Thank you again from Fiona and all the team!
