“beautiful accomodation in georgian Dublin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

My fiance and I stayed here for a long weekend. We were both very impressed with the Pembroke Townhouse. We were worried that the room might be tiny after reading reviews that said they were quite small but these worries were unfounded as the room was an ideal size. The townhouse was clean and tastefully decorated throughout, and the breakfast room was rarely busy. Breakfasts were delicious and we ordered something from the cooked breakfast menu every day. We also made use of the tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary cookies. The townhouse is a short 5 min stroll from some shops and restaurants; and a slightly further walk into the city centre - I would say about 20 mins to Grafton St but there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants on the streets around Merrion Square which isn't far away.

“Cute but very cozy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2010

It's in a nice area that's out of the tourist area so it has a true Dublin feel. Julia at the front desk is the nicest and the other staff is OK. It's a cute and cozy place but the rooms are a bit small and there's no air so it was a little hard to fall asleep.

They have a lot of tourist booklets and brew some nice coffee and cookies. There's a bar called Bellamy up the street that is great! The doors of Dublin in this area are also very nice and you can walk 15 mins to Temple Bar area.

I missed the breakfast so can't comment. Overall it's a cute place, just small.

Dear Jahjah01,
Thank you for your recent review of the Pembroke Townhouse.
We were pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay and you felt the location was good and I pass on your kind comments to Julia.
I was disappointed to learn that you found it difficult to sleep with no air in the room. We have had an unusually hot spell in Dublin lately and it has been warm and humid, but I am sorry to hear your stay was uncomfortable.
Great that you enjoyed our local info and coffee and cookies in the lounge!
We look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to Pembroke Townhouse on another occasion.
Thank you again from Fiona and all the team!

“Superb location and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

Stayed there with a colleague a few weeks ago and I loved it. A very welcoming receptionist checked us in and we were given complimentary tea and delicious home-made cookies on arrival. Room is clean and crisp. Staff and service was excellent and the breakfast was cooked to order and it was so tasty. They have a private car-park at the back of the guesthouse. It is great to have free parking so close to the city. Great value for money for such a central location. The service and friendliness you receive far exceeds some of the larger hotels in the area. Look forward to go back again soon

“very friendly and close to city centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

We really enjoy staying at the hotel, excellent staff, nice rooms, good breakfast, everybody very kind and patient with the all of us, hoping we didn't make too much noise because we were a big Italian group, not far from the city centre, just a nice walk. Thank you all, we have been very happy there!!!

“Great location & staff! Lovely, affordable room!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

I stayed here for 4 nights, travelling as a thirty-something woman solo. Felt safe walking to and from the hotel into the center of Dublin both day and night. I am a big city person though, so someone not comfortable in cities may want to walk during the day and take a cab at night. I did that for convenience sake and it was very easy and not too expensive. There is not a lot going on in this part of town (Georgian section), but it's an easy 15-20 walk to all the shops and restaurants on Grafton Street and Temple Bar. Plus, those areas were hectic and loud--great to go out in, but maybe not the best to stay in, depending on what you like. The staff at Pembroke was very helpful and polite. The rooms were a good size, very comfortable, and impeccably clean. Very comfortable bed. There is an elevator which always worked. Also a safe in the room, which I appreciate. I booked my stay on lonelyplanet.com which was very convenient and easy to use. There is a cancellation option up to 24 hours ahead, and then only one night's penalty if you have to cancel. This was important to me because I had already rescheduled once due to the volcano in Iceland. I highly recommend this hotel!
