“Great Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2010

I really enjoyed the Saturday tour. The meeting location was great(for us) by Trinity College. We went to a variety of rural pubs and drove through the beautiful hilly countryside with baby lambs everywhere. I really liked visiting the countryside since our trip was originally only to Dublin for the week (we ended up stranded for an additional week due to the volcano ash shutting down airspace) The meal options at the restaurant we stopped at were surprisingly very tasty, filling, and offered at a reasonable price. Shane offered to take photos for us and recommended a really great beer to my husband called Smithwicks. The prices at the pubs we visited were much more reasonable than in town and we had a good group of people on our tour which added to the experience. There was one pub owned by an elderly man that looks like it hasn't changed in YEARS. Shane jumped behind the bar to help him which we found amusing We were dropped off at our hotel at the end which was very helpful.

“Great Night out of the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2010

The "Thirsty Thursday" rural pub tour was the best night my husband and I had in our week long stay in Dublin. Our guide Shane was so much fun, and really looked after the group while feeling like he was part of it. The pubs were great and the Irish stew at Nancy Murphy's was excellent. The Blue Light, Harbor Bar and Johnny Fox's were all great pubs with fun atmospheres, and all the people we met local and on the tour were very nice and fun. The only bad part was that it had to end!

“Book this trip NOW! One of the most fun, unique trips of all time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2010

My husband and I had the great pleasure of going on the Rural Nights Pub tour with about 11 other excellent folks we got to meet and of course the amazing guide Shane and fantastic driver Mick in March 2010. This trip was by far and away the best find we made during our travels in Ireland. All the folks we met along the way were friendly with hilarious stories and kind words. Where else could you meet a guy nicknamed Paddy Bullocks. Everyone on the trip was a blast too. My husband has the start of a joke for our trip..."A preacher, a pregnant woman, a Russian and handful of Americans go on a pub tour in Ireland...". He never finished the joke, but it gives an idea on how interesting our group was. The atmosphere at each pub was very welcoming and somewhat eclectic. This trip is a great way to see some of the countryside and to get out of Dublin proper. We can't thank Shane enough for dealing with such a oddball group as well as Mick for not pulling over to the side of the road and ordering us all out. In truth, we all just had a great time, met some great folks and got to see parts of the surrounding Dublin area that we never ever would have.

“Don't leave Dublin without it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

I wish I was a better wordsmith so I could give this tour the justice it deserves. This was truly the highlight of our week in Dublin. This tour is like going to your neighborhood pubs with friends to meet up with more friends. Sean and Mick could not have been more gracious, but more importantly, they made us all feel like we had known them forever. Each pub had something special and unique. Don't hesitate, stop reading all these reviews and book this tour and start thinking of a new way to write a review explaining how fantastic it was! My husband and I will be returning to Ireland and we are going to make a SPECIAL trip to Dublin, just to take this again.
