Having got the best price of any of the serviced apartments in Glasgow, I decided to have a look at the reviews of other travellers. I almost cancelled myreservation and booked something more expensive but decided I would go and make up my own mind. And I'm glad I did. I called ahead to see if it would be possible to check in early and was told it probably wouldn't be possible as the apartments were full the night before but that we could leave our bags and they'd be taken to the apartment once it was available. When we arrived at noon, 3 hours before their standard check in time, we were told that the apartment was ready and that we could check in straight away. We were on the Lower Ground floor, and although the apartment was quite small (with a disproportionately large enterance hall) I was surprised, after reading the other reviews, to find it was clean and in good repair. We were only in the apartment a few hours a day (basically just to sleep and eat breakfast) but we didn't encounter any problems at all. A few questions sprung to mind from the other reviews. How do you run out of dishes in an apartment with a dishwasher? Why can't you have clean towels everyday in an apartment with a washer/dryer? I think people who stay here have to bear in mind a few things and they will get on just fine and won't be disappointed:
1 - the apartment has single glazed sash windows and so doesn't keep the noise out very well
2 - the city centre has a lot of clubs pubs and bars and therefore it is noisy in the early hours of the morning
3 - this is an apartment, not a hotel, yes there is a twice weekly maid and the girls that we met were very nice, but if you want clean dishes and clean towels and clean clothes then there are facilities to do that for yourself.
Overall, we had a highly enjoyable stay. The bed was comfortable, the kettle, the fridge, the toaster, the extractor fans - everything worked, and there are two Sainsbury's and a Tesco within easy walking distance.
