My friends & I stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment on New Years Eve & New Years day. We were emailed instructions how to get into the apartment & get our key which was nice & efficient.
The apartment itself was very nice, lovely comfortable beds, a good sized bathroom & an en suite in the largest bedroom.
We did have a couple of small gripes. It was an apartment to sleep 6 & there was only a 2 seater sofa & a single seater & there was a dining table to seat 4. Not really a big deal for a short stay but would have been nice if everyone could have had a comfortable seat & if we weren't all squeezed in around the dinner table.
There was a dishwasher with dishwasher tablets provided which I thought was an excellent touch. There was only 1 glass & wine glass per person & 1 piece of each bit of cutlery per person which although was expected seemed a bit stingy in such lovely apartments. There was a good selection of pots & pans which we needed as we cooked both nights we were there. The only things we really missed were a chopping board & oven glove!
The downside of our stay was that people set the fire extinguisher off in the hall outside our room (I think they had gotten in somehow & weren't guests as they just sat in the exit hallway for hours) which set off the fire alarm. No-one answered the "emergency" number when we tried calling to let them know about it.
The fire alarm then had issues on new years day when it wouldn't stop going off & had to be silenced, unfortunately this shut down the gas boiler as a safety precaution which meant we had no heating or hot water, being winter & with single glazing the apartment became freezing! We had to sit with our jackets on & we couldn't wash & people in our group were forced to have cold showers as they were going straight to work on the 2nd.
We asked for compensation & were initially offered a 1 bedroom apartment, not much use for 6 people. We were then offered a 3 bedroom apartment but with the requirement we pay for the additional night as per the minimum stay requirements which I hardly thought fair given that it was meant to be compensation.
Finally we were offered £60 financial compensation which we accepted as our group felt that paying more money to go back defeated the purpose of us being compensated.
Overall, I know if the fire extinguisher had never been set off on new years eve our stay would no doubt have been much better, unfortunately this one incident set off a chain reaction which tarnished my view & would mean I would probably not go back to stay at Glasgow Centrale as I was very disappointed with the customer service.
