Myself and husband visited this Premier Inn from March 16-18th 2012. We looked around at different hotels but went for this one based on the reviews and with the premier brand you know what you will be getting.
Checked in with no problems, recpetion area a little small and not the best looking. Made our way to our allocated room on floor 2 where we were instantly met with a strong smell of damp/or urine? the second we left the lift and this smell was also in our room and you can hear the traffic outside, our window faced onto a street. Quick trip back to reception where they apologized and moved us to level 5.
This room was premier standard, clean, simple with a comfy bed. We recieved a call to check we were happy which we were and we was also brought 4 extra pillows at our request and a ironing board and iron.
We never ate breakfast but did eat from the resturant in our room and the food was great. Fresh, yummy and fairly priced as Edinburgh can be a little pricey. We wished we would have eaten more at the hotel after that dining experience.
Whenever we needed a taxi reception called one, the staff were happy and helpful on the front desk. The location is very good, just round the corner from grassmarket, 10 minuete stroll to princess street and then royal mile just a little further on from there. Taxi's never topped more than £5 from where we needed to go.
We will continue to use the premier brand, if i travelled back to Edinburgh i do not think i would use this one again simply because of the traffic noise outside and the impression at the start.
Ask for level 5 to have some kind of view and also esacpe the traffic noise from around this hotel
