“good location comfortable hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

I stayed here with my teenage kids and husband during our annual vacation to London. The hotel is well located and we could walk to the subway station, also when we needed to drive out for day trips to attractions around london it was great as its very close to the highways and the city traffic did not cause to be a problem.

Good Morning,

Thank you for your recent comments.
I am sorry to hear, that you found the decor depressing.
I agree that it may not be the most modern, however we try to keep it as fresh as possible, and are currently in the process of re-painting all the rooms and laying new carpets.
As we are a limited-service hotel, we cannot offer the range of food that may be available in higher class establishments.
I am sorry to hear that you were not made to feel welcome. Please be assured that I take these comments seriously and I will monitor the situation and re-train the staff where neccessary.
Customer Service and a welcoming smile are most important to us and can make all the difference.
I hope that in the future you may give us another try and show you that this was an exceptional occurance.

“A Good Deal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2010

This was a last minute booking for three of us as our plans to spend New Year In Berlin fell through at the last minute. Hotel very easy to get to by car but a bit of a schlep by public transport. If you're at all familiar with NE London it's bang on the Crooked Billet Roundabout on The North Circular and a 10 min bus ride to either Walthamstow Central Station (for trains and Underground to Central London) or Chingford Station (Trains only) - watch the bus fares - £2.00 one way - get a 1 day travel card for Zones 1-4 which will get you anywhere in London on bus, underground, DLR and local trains unlimited travel for £6.30 a day (off-peak after 09.30). Talkes about 45 mins to get to centre of London.

Very helpful reception staff who persevered with our problems with the key card right up until we left. Rooms small but clean and very good condition - extra coffee, sugar milk etc not a problem - just ask. Extra pillows and towles etc. al;l available if you ask - spare athought for the staff though - like all of these big hotel chains they run on a minimum staff basis so just ask and they'll get you stuff straight away for you to take back to the room but expect a bit of a delay if you want it delivered.

Breakfast a bit limited and the croissants were well past their best even at the start of breakfast. Watch out for the toaster! It has a tendency to cremate your bread at the slightest provocation but there again the stupidity of some guests trying to toast whole bread rolls didn't help. Sevice area for breakfast a bit cramped and a large party of Japanese guests who were in residence at the time had no idea of queuing and would tend to block the whole thing by holding group converstations by the coffee machine - one of the very few occasions I've had to use my best Brit "DO YOU MIND MOVING??????????" voice.

Apart from that a pleasant place and handy for getting to by car - good value for money.

“Good budget hotel - location a little remote”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2009

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights with my husband who stays here most weeks. As you would expect it is fairly basic but reasonably priced for greater London. The rooms are small and would be ideal for single people but they become a little cramped for two over a number of nights. There are a limited number of hangers so for two people who are both working this was a problem. The beds are not particularly comfortable and the towels are in need of replacement as they are very thin and grey. Don't expect a full English breakfast but the options available are ideal for a quick breakfast. As it is next to Sainsbury's there is the option of buying sandwiches, salads and takeaway hot food. Walthamstow has a very large number of fast food/takeaway options although we have not tried any. Chingford is easily reached by bus - and there are some fabulous eating places here. The tapas bar and Thai restaurant are both next to Chingford station and are good. Commuting to London takes about an hour - from the hotel it is a bus and tube on the Victoria Line.

“Great place from which to base”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2009

I stayed here several times over several months. The staff from the top person to the clerks are friendly and courteous, particularly for a middle market hotel. The dog track is now gone, but this place is within easy walking of parks, tennis courts, restaurants, laundry and other shops. The rooms are typical HIE, which are not all the comfortable. But we have continually found that the quality of staff and their willingness to help made it a great place to base one's business travel to London. Just catch a cab to Walthamstow to catch the Tube, or a mini-Cab to City Airport. Not too bad.
