The location of the Ruskin is ideal for sight seeing, the British museum is across the road, covent garden and Leicester square are both within walking distance too, there are many reasonably priced restaurants close by, the area is quiet and pleasant.

The hotel is full of character, the staff are all smiley and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are well maintained and very comfortable. The shared bathrooms and toilets were also very clean. The breakfast is cooked to order so its nice and hot as its not been sitting in a buffet.

The hotel was more that we were expecting and we will definitely be booking again.

Well done Ruskin, keep up the good work.

Room tip: Book early if you're a family to ensure you have the family room.

I was totally reluctant booking an entire week at this hotel while trying to find a flat in London after our long travels, knowing what 2 stars stood for. The rooms are clean and with the double glazing to the front very quiet. Two shared bathrooms and toilets on our level were sufficient and close to our room. Breakfast is complimentary with a variety of cereals, toast and if you like a full English, then you get it. The girls serving breakfast are just as welcoming and friendly as everyone at reception, going an extra mile to make your stay a memorable one. The only drawback is the lacking reception of WIFI when you are on the upper floors which is fast in the lounge. The only TV is based in there as well and if you are not a great big fan of Coronation Street and are not impaired of hearing, this can turn into an unforgettable experience. The location is spot on right next to the British Museum, Covent Garden and Oxford Street for anyone attempting a shopping power trip.

Room tip: Rooms right next to the bathroom are noisy due to the ventilation and water running.

A central B&B with a cheerful and helpful staff, making sure they meet all of your needs.
The room was decent, the bed was big and comfortable, making up for the shared bathroom, but surprisingly enough it didn't bother us that much.
The breakfast was good and the chef always greeted you with a big smile.

+ Clean rooms.
- General areas were a bit roughed up, in need of a renovation in the near future.
+/- Lift out of order, but the staff was more the happy to help you up the stairs with your luggage.

+++ This is a great hotel for a weekend shopping trip or a pub crawl/nightlife.

Room tip: If any disability or difficulty with walking, choose lower floors.

The main advantages are the excellent location and friendly staff. However the rooms are small, with thin walls (hear snoring next door), lack facilities (no TV) and you may have to share a bathroom. The Breakfast is good but limited.

Room tip: Rooms not facing the street may be quieter

For the first time in years, and because everywhere else seemed impossibly expensive on my dates, I chose a shared bathroom option. Never again. The contented comments on same, above, are beyond me,. Perhaps I shared time with a convention of Disgusting Human Beings, because most times I visited the toilet it had been left in a revolting condition. Perhaps if I had waited longer, the facilities might have been cleaned but unfortunately as one shares the floor with at least 6-8 other rooms (not the smaller number suggested above) one can't afford to wait! Also, as people were aware of queuing issues, many chose to shower at night and in the early hours. Being close to the bathroom was therefore a disaster, sleepwise. In addition, one of the DHBs above returned (from his convention?) at 4.30 a.m., shouting into his phone at top decibels. In this hotel one is inescapably close to fellow human beings in all their glory.
The only plus is the location, obviously. The room itself was perfectly clean, if tiny. But sadly, never again.

Room tip: if you can, get an ensuite
