“Avoid like the plague you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 March 2010

We all went on a 5 day stay from west Yorkshire 4 adults and 1 child the food was so poor that David blunkett must of cooked it, the food was all made for the elderly who reasly couldn't care less to complain! ABSOUTELY NONE OF THE FOOD WAS FRESH the food was So poor and terrible and disgusting the soup was like wall paper paste with no seasoning the main courses was not even worth mentioning absoutely disgusting I'd you was stevie wonder then it wouldn't be so bad the coffee was powder coffee toast was allways burnt and allways cold the desert well on the 3rd night for example banoffee pie consists of digestive biscuit laughing gas cream out of a tin and a drizzle of choclate but the best is yet to come there like to rip you off bingo was an absolutely a con a a strip of 6 tickets cost £5 per game and you And only had one game so if you have 4 adults it's £20 pergame the noise outside the hotel was terrible sandy lodge shouting and swearing sleep is a no no no no no seagulls like to give you a wake up call at 5am till 8am and also the other keys fit each others doors the night porter we asked him for a morning call and was playing cards on the computer not paying attention instead we got a wake up call at 5am instead of 8 am really tired the next day no sorry or anything I could go on and on and the rooms were not upto scratch and the snooker room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for a year cheese and biscuits all over and empty glass all over the place no security on the doors the only good point was the waiter Paul ledder he looked after us all week and did his best for our little one as there didn't have a Childrens menu and went out of his way to accomadate the food for her

I travelled with a group of friends, some blind, 1 in a wheelchair and 1 with special dietry requirments. We had a fabulous time the staff were excellent, the restaurant bent over backwards to help, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was warm, friendly and clean and the staff great. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone it is outstanding value for money and warrants more than 3 stars.

ground floor looked very nice, good carpets and all very clean. our room was on the 3rd floor and the carpets were very shabby and in dire need of replacing. the bathroom was tiny and the toilet was against the sink. had to kneel on the toilet to use it. No shelves for toiletries. the shower mat was disgusting. the food was lovely though it did seem strange having to eat at 6.30PM sharp and 8.30 AM for breakfast. Entertainment was faultless,( we had gone on a country and western weeekend). staff were very friendly and hepful. very central for everywhere. very limited car parking but public car park next door. not sure if we would stay there again

We spent 4 nights at the Barrowfield on a coach trip, after spending 11 hours on a bus arriving at 5.30pm we were told dinner would be at aset time of 6.30 each evening , after waiting ages for the only lift we got to our room and what a shock wallpaper was hanging of the wall a damp patch on the ceilingdirty stains on the carpet creaky floorboards, and then when we went into the bathroom we were faced with a dark brown suite there was no were to put your toiletries. This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in and we wont be going back.

“Great location, friendly, clean and comfortable”

I stayed here with my fiance and 6 year old son in during May half term. We had a nice family room which was very clean, bright and comfortable. and had a newly-fitted bathroom suite with bath and shower over. We have stayed in a few hotels in Newquay as we go there every year, usually in May and this is the best one we have stayed in. The place just has a really good feel to it. The staff are really friendly and I loved the elderly people who go travel there on the all-inclusive coach deal - they made such a fuss of my son, he was in his element! There is a great indoor pool with jacuzzi and sauna and the receptionist provides towels as you go in. The outdoor pool is now closed unfortunately, and is going to be made into an outside seating area, apparently The food is really nice and you get served really quick in the dining room. Breakfast is self-service for cereals and then you order your cooked breakfast from the waitress. There's a choice of 3 mains and 3 starters and puddings and you decide what you want at breakfast time and it comes out nice and quick at 6.30pm when you go down for dinner. The hotel is right next to Tolcarne beach, which is lovely and only a 10 minute walk into town. We never had any trouble parking as most of the guests get there by coach. My only critisism would be that the entertainment was aimed at the older guests and for a young family wasn't much fun. However most of the guests were elderly and they seemed to enjoy it and we did join in with the bingo every night around 8pm. We are definitely going to go to this hotel again, as I said earlier there's just a really nice atmosphere there and we just felt very comfortable straight away.
