“Ideal location, friendly staff & very clean”

Stayed for one night, with my sister in a twin room. We wanted a tea/coffee tray in the room & a complimentary one was brought on request, with fresh milk. The room & the hotel is spotless. The staff are friendly & very efficient. Our food & drinks were swiftly brought to us in the brasserie. Our only gripe was the dressing gowns, they are heavy & large & I would have liked a window in the room that opened. The Molton Brown toiletries are lovely & the beds are very comfortable. For someone like my self who has disabilites the hotel location is perfect, we could nip back & leave our shopping, pop to the loo or sit down & have a coffee. My sister & I would definitely stay there again.

“Anniversary to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

Having spent the night of our wedding here, I decided to spring a suprise and take my wife back for our first wedding anniversary.
The service was every bit as good as we remember from booking the room, I requested the same room and that is what is what we got, through the way we were eased through check-in and taken to our room.
Waiting was a small cake for anniverary in the room, a really good touch, done with charm. The room was excllent, overlooking the main street with loads of room and a massive, oh so comfortable bed.
Breakfast the next morning is a proper affair, no buffet here, just really good food brought to you. The orange juice deserves a special mention.
This hotel shows what excellent service can be without being insincere or fawning.

“Wonderful hotel, a reason to go to Chester all of its own!”

I have stayed in a number of 4 and 5 star hotels around the world, and the Grosvenor impressed me greatly. From the extremely cordial, polite and exceptionally helpful service, assisting with everything from luggage to dinner reservations to making my partner with a tooth infection as comfortable as she could get, the service is among the best I have ever had. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated and with good amenities (to those saying there are no coffee and tea facilities in the rooms - they will bring you them free on request!), quiet especially considering the great locations. The beds are comfortable with great linen, too. The food in the Brasserie is very good, and the main restaurant is exceptionally good and well worth its michelin star, however BOOK IN ADVANCE as it can be hard to get a table! The spa is well equipped and very relaxing. The thermal suite is a one-off charge no matter how many times you use it during your stay, which made it more appealing.

I would be happy to stay here again, in fact I look forward to it, and would recommend it to anyone. It's not cheap, but it's very good value for a great 5 star hotel. If you're in Chester for whatever reason, try to stay there, you'll love it.

“Weding Days at Chester”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2010

This is a very old established and very nice 5 star hotel in the heart of Chester. We were invited for an evening's after-wedding party where the bride and groom had spent a lot of money having their wedding ceremony held there, thier wedding dinner for about 150 guests, then the evening "Do" for a further 50 guests plus catering for them. I'm not privvy to what that might have cost but the charges at the bar where nothing short of profiteering, one lady present even had her own "supply" of vodka simply because she'd been before! Be warned the bars in this hotel are extortionate! I mentioned this to the front of house Manager and he actually agreed with me, rather takes the wind out of your sails! I think they chrage these prices because they can!

“Excellent in almost every way!”

This hotel was a delight to stay in. Reservations, check in, service, restaurant and spa were all of a high quality with helpful and friendly service. There was only one hiccup when our confirmed restaurant booking was put back 30 mins despite having booked in March and this meant we ended up eating quite early! Staff which deserve a particular mention are Keith, Bev and Scott. Similarly in the spa all treatments were excellent and delivered in a modest but friendly way. Will definitely return!
