“A real five star experience”

What a great place to stay, fantastic service ,beautiful building, and a perfect location.Took the option of driving to the front of the Hotel.Upon reaching the centre of Chester ,you are greeted by a Grosvenor employee manning a sentry box and gate,i told him we had a booking ,and he rang ahead to ensure someone was there to take your bags ,and park your car.Check in was really smooth, and then we were shown to our room.
Rooms were clean and tidy ,with a great air con system, the bathroom was really nice ,clean and spacious.
Took the option of the cooked breakfast which was very good indeed, this was served in the brasserie,by very polite and attentive staff.
Didnt do any other dining in he hotel so cant comment on any other food.
All in all this is a real quality hotel,as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for",this is certainly true of the Grosvenor.
Would i return?
You bet!!

“First class service - with a smile”

This was a hotel we had on our wish-list for a long time and finally got the opportunity. The excellent service began with the very first 'phone call to make the reservation. The lady on reservations was extremely helpful and displayed a perfect balance of friendliness and efficiency which we were to find repeated by every member of staff during our all-too-brief stay. I mentioned whilst booking that it was the occasion of our Silver Wedding Anniversary and clearly a note must have been made against our reservation because we were delighted to be told uopn checking in that our room had been upgraded as a gift from the Hotel. This was followed later that evening with a beautiful personalised miniature cake delivered to our room.

We stayed just the one Saturday night and booked the package which included dinner at Simon Radley; a wonderful experience which I would thoroughly recommend. Belatedly, this was our first ever visit to a Michelin-star restaurant and although I wouldn't say it was the best meal I've ever had, it was certainly an experience not to be missed. The service was impeccable without ever being obsequious or aloof.

Our king-sixe deluxe room was delightful - very comfortable, well-appointed and spotlessly clean as you would expect from a hotel of this calibre. I've read some slightly negative comments about the lack of tea-making facilities in the rooms. A simple solution which I thoroughly recommend - order a tray of tea to enjoy in your room before breakfast. It is reasonably priced, delivered very promptly and beautifully presented.

The hotel location is absolutely perfect for enjoying the delightful array of eclectic shops which Chester has to offer - a refreshing change from the high streets of so many towns which are full of the same national retail chains and charity shops. Parking in the multi-storey at the rear of the hotel is also extremely convenient.

I cannot praise the staff too highly - they all made us feel very special and very welcome.
All in all an absolutely wonderful experience and we will certainly be back.

“Luxurious romantic treat”

Wonderful hotel, absolutely spotless, staff are a pleasure to be with. We ate in La Brasserie and the food was superb. A 5* hotel which is more than worth a visit I would be surprised if you were disappointed. The experience is wonderful. Unfortunately the Arkle restaurant doesn't open on a Sunday or Monday evening which is a shame, but you can dress up or down in La Brasserie and the food is equally as exquisite. Didn't try the Spa facilities but I believe they are excellent. The bedrooms as wonderful, very luxurious, the beds are like the Princess & the Pea story.

“Luxury in Chester”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

Stayed here last night the 8th of June, its a well organised customer focussed property, its old and some of the internal architechture is beautiful, really comfortable and there is every service you would expect from a five red star hotel. It's got a wonderful spa, gym is open 24 hours etc etc. The car park is a bit of a nuisance location wise and quite pricey - when you find it!

Overall I'd say that if you are looking for a special place to stay in the Chester area then I don't think you will be disappointed. There is lots of attention to detail, staff know who you are and are genuinly warm and welcoming. Very little to find fault with. One small gripe might be the breakfast , very nice but if you are on a package there is a supplement for hot food, i get so annoyed by supplements..

Dinner in Simon Radley's restaurant was truly memorable and I've done a separate review for this.

“Best hotel I have ever visited”

What can I say - simply the best hotel stay I have ever experienced. This was our wedding anniversary trip and we booked a suite for two nights - excellent choice. The service was immaculate - nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who still managed to maintain an eminently friendly and approachable demean. Our room (suite) was simply gorgeous with the biggest bed I have ever seen! We ate in La Brasserie for our 'special' anniversary dinner and were completely satisfied with both the service and the gorgeous food. Ignore all of the (albeit sporadic) poor reviews - I simply cannot fault this hotel and sincerely hope to return. Many thanks.
