What can I say - simply the best hotel stay I have ever experienced. This was our wedding anniversary trip and we booked a suite for two nights - excellent choice. The service was immaculate - nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who still managed to maintain an eminently friendly and approachable demean. Our room (suite) was simply gorgeous with the biggest bed I have ever seen! We ate in La Brasserie for our 'special' anniversary dinner and were completely satisfied with both the service and the gorgeous food. Ignore all of the (albeit sporadic) poor reviews - I simply cannot fault this hotel and sincerely hope to return. Many thanks.

Having read the wonderful reviews I was really looking forward to my stay at The Grosvenor Hotel, Chester. However, we were put in a room which overlooked the multi-story car park which was very noisy in the early hours when the mechanical sweepers moved in. We were moved to another room on the third night which was much quieter and the staff were very helpful and apologetic.
The breakfast room also serves as the informal restaurant but lacked atmosphere and much sense of 5 star luxury e.g no table clothes even in the evening. The breakfast was very good but each item had to be ordered from the kitchen and I think a buffet table would have been much better. Most of the cooked items incurred a hefty supplement which I thought was off-putting and unecessary. However, the tea, coffee, orange juice and porridge were all excellent.
We ate in the informal restaurant on my husband's birthday- the food was good but expensive for what is was and in a bistro setting. The prices in the main restaurant were out of our price range and it did not look particularly welcoming to the passer-by. Neither did the hotel bar, where we would have liked to have a drink and maybe read the paper. Newspapers also had to be purchased. So did the Spa, which is really not worth a trip unless you are having a treatment -another charge, of course.
I have stayed in only a few 4-5 star hotels - the best being the Royal Crescent in Bath . The Grosvenor does not quite make the grade for me, I'm afraid . It needs to loosen up a bit and be a bit more generous.

My eldest daughter celebrated her 21st Birthday on Saturday, and I wanted to say how special the day was by experiencing 'Afternoon Tea' served in the Drawing Room.
We were warmly welcomed to the Grosvenor Hotel by a very nice gentleman who promptly lead the way to the Drawing Room on the first floor. What a stunning room! It was beautifully decorated, with very comfortable sofas and chairs.
We chose the 'Indulgent Afternoon Tea' which included a glass of Champagne served with fresh strawberries and clotted cream to start. Followed by a selection of finger sandwiches; fruit and plain scones served with clotted cream and strawberry jam; french pastries and fancies! We chose Assam and Earl Grey tea. This was expertly served by the most courteous and polite staff who made us feel very welcome.
It was a very special day for my daughter which was made even more special by our visit to the Chester Grosvenor.

This was our third visit (but our first with the children) and it never disappoints rooms, food service all perfect as you would expect from a five star hotel. You are made to feel welcome from the moment you check in until you leave and nothing is too much trouble even removing the bits from freshly squeezed juice for my fussy daughter was not a problem.
This visit was the first time I tried the spa and it was incredibly relaxing and the staff make you feel very comfortable even accommodating my ten-aged daughter'
Wat more can I say but a perfect hotel to stay in and right in the town centre perfect for retail therapy
