“Nice hotel, good service, reasonable room and amenities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2010

Nice place to stay. We had a hockey tournament and a few teams were there. We were allowed the use of a board room for a small pizza party and were allowed to bring pizza in from outside. Nice pool area for the kids with a water slide they all enjoyed. Friendly staff for the most part. Our room was nice, felt clean and was relatively quiet. Shower head was poor and was semi-blocked. Hot water never really got hot for a shower but was adequate. Coffee was free in the lobby before 7:30. My wife arrived at 7:35 and was told she couldn't get one but they graciously suggested she pay $3.25 at the restaurant. 5 minutes and they "couldn't accomodate". Parking was free and a paper was delivered to our door in the morning. Restaurant breakfast would have been approx. $45-$55 for 2 adults and two kids. Entrees looked to be priced at about $22 each for dinner, $38 each for a buffet as I recall. Dinner would be at least $100 for 4. All in all a reasonable stay with a clean room, friendly staff and nice ammenities. We felt there was better value to be found by eating elsewhere, other family restaurants were pretty close by. Location to the 401 was ideal, less than 1 minute away.

“Great Stay !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

We planned a family trip to the Toronto zoo, and decided on staying at the Delta Toronto east due to its location as well as its waterslide and pools. On arrival everything went great, the staff at check-in were very courteous and polite. The hotel is very nice and clean, to get to the elevator you have to walk over a raised walk-way which goes over part of the pool area, you can see the pool and water-slide to your right as you walk to the elevator, everyone looked like they were having a great time.
We booked a king size bed as usual, so when entering our room we were not dissapointed, it was great, very warm and welcoming, a large flat screen TV, and an amazingly comfortable king size bed. The washroom was very clean and modern, as well as the bedding and window coverings.
We decided to head down to the pool, my son who is 2 1/2 had a blast, we went to the small kiddy pool which has a small frog waterslide, he loved it and must of went down it a hundred times, it is very small, but perfect for little ones. I tried the big waterslide, and it is a Hoot, that thing really rocks you down in a hurry.
We didnt spend to much time at the Hotel, but the time we did spend we enjoyed it very much, everyone was very nice. The only thing that I didnt care for is the charge for parking, I think they add 15.00 dollars or so to park, but I did get a great rate so it really wasnt that big of a deal. Think I paid 130.00 or so, I have paid much more for much worse.
I would stay here again for sure !

“Staff delt with our issues well”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

We selected Delta East because it was the official hotel of the Toronto Zoo. I must say we LOVED the pool and the waterslide. The kids (and adults) spent lots of time splashing and sliding. I would like to say the restaurants are terribly overpriced. We had a couple of problems but I must say, there were delt with to our satisfaction. Don't eat there if you can avoid it! The night manager "steve" was FANTASTIC! Thanks Steve, we appreciated your help!

“Front desk poor. RESTAURANT to AVOID ... Great rooms, great pool.”

That was my second stay at the Delta Toronto East. First time (2007) I booked with the hotel at 180$ (IBM rate) which is very high. This time I booked via Expedia. I like this hotel because it is well situated next to 401. The pool is clean, the sauna is great, the shower at the pool included soap and shampoo. The water slide is crazy and I liked it. The room are clean. BUT .. the front desk don't talk each other. I had to fight this morning to get my free parking as told by the front desk 2 days ago (they offered me one free parking). So the girl gave me the free parking with a smile... not BAD.. BUT ... THE RESTAURANT IS REAL CRAP. Bad and stupid service. FOOD discusting ... really BAD FOOD. I don't know if its Delta or Toronto but if you come here, you should go to Cora Breakfast. DON'T pay 17$ for a crappy breakfast at this hotel and not even 32$ for the "deluxe sunday breakfast"... I prefer going to subway and PAY than aving a free meal at this restaurant. Go to the Metro next to the Highway and buy you a meal.
This hotel stole me my 32$ and 17$ breakfast. I don't know how people can eat this food and accept to pay for it. I left a writtent complain at the kitchen and I hope ... for their business they will fix it. Next time I stay in Toronto I will consider Westin ... it's costly but the food is ok. Or I will stay to Delta and GO eat outside.

“Some bumps in the stay...but overall OK...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

We picked this hotel due to it's location and proximity to the Toronto Zoo. We had no difficulties getting to the hotel or finding the hotel for that matter and that was a huge plus. Problem is...it's right off the 401...and yes, you can hear *some* traffic at night if your room is facing the highway.

Well....I'll start with the great parts about this hotel. As I mentioned, location and ease of finding the hotel was a bonus. The staff.....couldn't say enough about their wonderful hospitality. Every single staff member was happy (genuinely) and helpful! The decor of the hotel was pretty nice....felt kind of "high end". Hotel room itself was cozy and clean. Bathroom was nice and roomy....tub was fine....water pressure was great. That about sums up the up-side of our stay....

The first thing I need to say is that the food is TERRIBLE at the hotel. It is also VERY overpriced. $60 for a dinner buffet for my husband, myself and our son (kids eat free too). I almost threw up from the cost of the food and from the taste. I sampled at least everything at the buffet, including the desserts, and it was honestly terrible. I'm not a fussy eater either...and I was starving from our busy day! It was certainly not satisfying. Next......we specifically picked this hotel as well for it's awesome waterslide! Well....we get to the hotel and.....the pool was closed due to repairs. Our son was SO bummed out....as were we....because we had been so looking forward to going into the pool. What was even worse was the kiddie pool....it was open, but there were 20-25 children crammed into it and no staff member keeping an eye on how many were in the pool. Sadly, the pool reopened as we were checking out the next morning....and my son had to walk by the kids sliding down the waterslide he wanted so badly to. Total bummer.

So, overall....we *might* go back, but we certainly will NOT eat there by any means and I will ask for a room that does not overlook the 401.

I'm unsure if I'd highly recommend this hotel....but I'm also not totally disappointed with it. Rooms were great, staff was great, location was great.....but ammenities and food really blow.
