“Some bumps in the stay...but overall OK...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2009

We picked this hotel due to it's location and proximity to the Toronto Zoo. We had no difficulties getting to the hotel or finding the hotel for that matter and that was a huge plus. Problem is...it's right off the 401...and yes, you can hear *some* traffic at night if your room is facing the highway.

Well....I'll start with the great parts about this hotel. As I mentioned, location and ease of finding the hotel was a bonus. The staff.....couldn't say enough about their wonderful hospitality. Every single staff member was happy (genuinely) and helpful! The decor of the hotel was pretty nice....felt kind of "high end". Hotel room itself was cozy and clean. Bathroom was nice and roomy....tub was fine....water pressure was great. That about sums up the up-side of our stay....

The first thing I need to say is that the food is TERRIBLE at the hotel. It is also VERY overpriced. $60 for a dinner buffet for my husband, myself and our son (kids eat free too). I almost threw up from the cost of the food and from the taste. I sampled at least everything at the buffet, including the desserts, and it was honestly terrible. I'm not a fussy eater either...and I was starving from our busy day! It was certainly not satisfying. Next......we specifically picked this hotel as well for it's awesome waterslide! Well....we get to the hotel and.....the pool was closed due to repairs. Our son was SO bummed out....as were we....because we had been so looking forward to going into the pool. What was even worse was the kiddie pool....it was open, but there were 20-25 children crammed into it and no staff member keeping an eye on how many were in the pool. Sadly, the pool reopened as we were checking out the next morning....and my son had to walk by the kids sliding down the waterslide he wanted so badly to. Total bummer.

So, overall....we *might* go back, but we certainly will NOT eat there by any means and I will ask for a room that does not overlook the 401.

I'm unsure if I'd highly recommend this hotel....but I'm also not totally disappointed with it. Rooms were great, staff was great, location was great.....but ammenities and food really blow.

“Location great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

The hotel is not bad what some folks expect for the price. The only catch with the hotel beware of the $12 daily parking and local phone calls. I do not see the need for daily parking when you are parked in open air.

“Clean, Comfortable, but a bit pricey!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

STAFF
We have been here twice now and the staff have always been pleasant and willing to go out of their way to assist you.

ROOM
Yes, it is a bit pricey for a family, but for a clean, comfortable room we were not let down. This is the second time that we have been to this hotel and overall it was a nice place to stay if only for a night. This time we took advantage of the Toronto Zoo package and the convenience of the proximity to the zoo (just minutes east on the 401).

It would have been nice to see breakfast being included with our Zoo package as that would have been a nice way to top it off.

PARKING
Considering that we are not in down town Toronto we are disappointed that we have to pay for parking at $13.68 per night. It should be complimentary service for the customers.

POOL
The pool is a nice touch for a relaxing swim and the kids will love it. Hot tub is available.
Water slide was very nice. Clean and well maintained.

RESTAURANT
We have eaten in the Whitesides Terrace Grille for breakfast on both stays and always enjoyed the meal. It was a help your self buffet which was a bit more than I would usually pay for a meal but my wife and I thought it was worth it. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

OVERALL
We do not have any serious issues with the Toronto Delta East except of course with the room price and the parking fee which would be nice to see them adjust. For us, a clean, quiet and comfortable room is all we could really ask for.

“Construction, noise, did I mention Construction”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2009

We decided to stay at this hotel and it was a horror show! The construction on site was extremely noisy and the front desk staff didn't seem to to care after I complained 3 times! I'm not normally a complainer, but the noise was unabarable at 6:30 every morning!! So much for a quiet holiday visiting family and friends. I had requested to move to the quiet side of the building, but my request fell on deaf ears. Probably because the construction noise has impaired their hearing.
Don't stay hear unless your up before 6 a.m. every morning and don't mind noise and dust.

“Construction”

Nice hotel on the outside, but they have construction everywhere around the hotel, the dust and the noise happens all day.
The pool is in the lobby of the hotel and the smell of chlorine is very strong, I expected much better.
