This was the perfect location for our mission. We wanted to take the False Creek Ferry to various places and not have to drive anywhere for food and entertainment. Lots of restaurants with in a couple of blocks and a short walk (2 blocks) to the ferry. We had a standard room on the 6th floor. Not noisy as some had indicated, a bit small but comfortable. Staff was wonderful. Greeted us with sparkling wine and in our room were chocolates and chips. Coffee mugs and glasses were not plastic, a must for me to have real mugs. Kurig Coffee and tea, ice was provided as well as a water carafe. Parking a bit pricey, but such is Vancouver. We had drinks at the bar in the restaurant (Opus Bar was undergoing a remodel). Martini I had was made to my specifications. Wine list was pricy. We had continental breakfast included. Scones and granola were the best. We did not have a chance to eat dinner there. I did not give 5 stars, because of only one sink, although the bathroom was large enough for 2, and turning on the shower was a bit awkward, with the shower head in front of the controls, so I was a bit chilled and then too hot to get to the controls for adjustment. Other than that, I would rate it at 5.

Dear allenjones,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your comments. Thank you as well for choosing to spend your weekend getaway at OPUS. We were very happy to read that you enjoyed your overall experience, especially how you described the staff as wonderful! I appreciate your comments regarding the shower. We do have a variety of bathroom layouts to choose from, that provide a separate walk in shower and deep soaker tub, which may be an option for your next stay with us.

Thank you again for your feedback, and we will now look forward to the next opportunity to welcome you both back to the hotel!

Sincerely,

Nicholas Gandossi

I always love staying at the Opus. The staff always go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The place smells amazing and there are always these special little touches that make you want to come back again and again. The location is primo (right across the street from the Canada Line from the airport), there is a Café Artigianno beside the lobby and the rooms are fun and colorful. Ultimately, what I like the most is that it feels like a special/classy hotel but there is a complete lack of pretention and stuffiness. I credit the management for hiring great staff who 'get it'. Oh, and they like pink and purple which is always a bonus in my books.

Room tip: I would ask for the room with the crazy bathroom that faces the street, but don't make the mistake that I did thinking that the glass was 'one way'. The bathroom has floor to ceiling windows so people on the street can see you doing your thing. :) It's a total novelty that I've never encountered anywhere else.

Nice boutique hotel. I stayed in the signature suite. The decor and in room amenities were nice but to be expected in a $700 + per night room. The housekeeping was terrible. I had a "do not disturb" sign on the door as I was trying to get some rest and the housekeeping decided to call my room, I was asleep so I didn't get the phone fast enough, and a few minutes later I heard someone coming in the door and I had to ask them to leave. After that I just got up and decided to go out in which I called housekeeping to let them know it was ok to come in. Upon my returning to the room my first reaction was they never came, ironing board and iron still out, towels on the floor in the bathroom, coffee capsules not replaced glasses out and so on, however they did make the bed that was it. I guess they weren't happy they couldn't clean the room when they were ready to do it.

Another item that kinda bugged me a bit, they have car service for their guest for short rides around town. I was having dinner at a restaurant about 10 minutes away, basically across the bridge not a big deal. I was told they couldn't accommodate me because it was "across the bridge", ok I guess you have to have some rules but when you have guest paying you this much for a suite and you have the car sitting out front and you tell the guest no only for this reason, bad business.

The staff was nice. I'm on the fence, not sure I would give them another try.

The Opus is not your typical hotel experience. From the moment you arrive and asked if you want a glass of champagne, the personalized experience is evident. The rooms are colorful and have special extras (iPads, unique playlists, etc.) all situated in the perfect location. The only drawback is that it's especially loud outside, at least during the weekend when we there, which made it hard to get to sleep.

Dear Carly K,

It was great to read your comments highlighting how much you enjoyed the room design, and some of the perks we offer our guests! I did want to acknowledge and apologize for any noise that disturbed you from outside, and sincerely hope that your overall experience was still an enjoyable one. For your next stay, I would love to have you experience one of our deluxe courtyard rooms that face into our Japanese garden, which is very quiet and peaceful.

Please contact me directly at ngandossi@opushotel.com for any reservation request or questions, and I would be happy to assist in anyway possible.
