“Excellent base for touring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2008

Stayed here for two nights end of June. Very comfortable hotel on the road between Derry City and Letterkenny. Excellent base for exploring the Northwest. Reception, Waiters, bar staff etc. are friendly. Food in the church Restaurant is excellent. This hotel is a three star, but I've stayed in four star hotels that are not nearly as good as this. Good value for money. Will stay here again.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2008

This is a very nice hotel with very friendly staff and a brilliant restaurant. but just make sure they don't have a wedding on the day that you stay there. We stayed there for 2 nights and the 2nd night there was a wedding reception there and we got no sleep from 2 am until 5 am in the morning because of the noise. Apart from that would go back again.

Stayed April 2008

“Very nice brand new hotel”

The An Grianan Hotel is a very new but very homely feeling hotel. It is warm and inviting. A large open area by reception features an open log effect (gas) fire which is very nice to sit by with a bottle of wine and some friends. The restaraunt, an old church, has been very tastefully furnished and decorated keeping many of the original features in place. The hotel part of it is very new feeling. The rooms are very nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable to sleep on. The price is very good considering the quality feel of the venue. everything from the rooms, the lobby, the bar, the restaraunt and even the washrooms give that feel of quality. The staff are very helpfull and pleasant. Myself and a few colleagues did have a few disagreements with the manager (Hassan) who does not seem to possess any people skills and we all found very rude, however, i would not let this incident tar the good reputation i had alrady built up about this hotel. The bar staff, the restaraunt staff, the receptionists, all very nice, very professional, very polite. I would certainly come back to the an Grianan in future. As long as i dont have to deal with Hassan.

  • Liked — The great friendly staff. The warm feeling of the whole building.
  • Disliked — The manager who has no people skills.

beautiful hotel, the rooms are realy nice and the public areas of the hotel are very open and airy.
We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time.
Its not too far from Derry or the airport and we would stay again.
The food is also good, we were there for a party and it was very well catered for.

  • Disliked — nothing

“best hotel ive ever stayed in!!!”

My wife booked this hotel as a surprise 30th birthday present. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The rooms were superb. We booked the church restaurant for a meal on the saturday night and we were not disappointed. Paulo Tullio's review in the saturday independent was spot on. The food was delicious and the service was what you would expect from a top hotel. The restaurant itself is beautifuly decorated and creates an intimate dining atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend away and/or just a beautiful dining experience in the church restaurant.
