The Ardmore House is conveniently located and has ample parking. The house is a proud Victorian with high ceilings and a lovely peat fire. When we arrived, Christina was not there, and we were taken to our room by one of her staff. Shortly thereafter, we were told that we needed to change rooms, because a larger family needed our room. We were moved from a spacious room with a jacuzzi, to a much smaller room with only a shower. When we returned from dinner, Christina made us tea and told us she was going out for a walk. She left us in the house without any staff for the rest of the evening, which made us feel somewhat uncomfortable, so we eventually went up to our room and went to bed. Breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary. Portions were smaller than that found at other B & Bs. When asked if we could use her dryer to dry our very wet clothes, she told us to hang them in front of the radiator. She is very knowledgeable about the area, and we would have loved to hear her play the fiddle.

I remember these guests very well because they changed the date of their reservation so many times before they arrived and requested me to find a storyteller for them, which I went to a lot of effort to do with success.
As this is a one-person operation I do have to leave the house to do shopping hence I was absent when these guests arrived. Laura my niece who works with me occasionally mistakenly put these guests into the wrong room. I had informed these guests by e-mail before they arrived that the room they had originally asked for was not available as by the time they finally decided on the date they wished to stay, a family had reserved this room.
After serving tea and home baked scones to these guests I went for a short walk. I then drove to the house of the storyteller, in the next village to check that everything was OK as arranged with him to meet these guests and tell storied for them the next morning. That took some time to do.
Breakfast at Ardmore is a choice of fruit juices, cereals, fresh and dried fruit, local organic yogurt, Full Irish Breakfast {2 pieces Bacon, 2 sausages, 1 black 1 white pudding, half a tomatoes and 1 fried free range egg}, Scrambled eggs with Irish Smoked Salmon or a 2 egg omelette of your choice, home made Irish Soda Bread, toast, homemade cheeses scones, home made preserves. Unfortunately my dryer was not working, hence the suggestion to use the radiator to dry her clothes. I play fiddle on Wednesday nights at one of the local pubs with a group of friends. It is a very enjoyable night with local singers and musicians.
