“perfect in many ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2009

We stayed two nights in Ardmore House and is was as good as it gets. The house is beautiful with very clean rooms and full of atmosphere. The turf fire was burning all day and the breakfast was superb. The surroundings are perfect for walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains or a visit to a nearby town or site of interest. The proprietor Cristina did everything and more to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

“lovely warm home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2009

One of our favorite evenings during our trip to Ireland was spent at the Ardmore House. Christina welcomed us warmly, offered my husband and me the pretty, spacious front bedroom, since we were celebrating an anniversary, and helped to settle the kids in lovely comfort of upstairs bedrooms. Because we had expressed interested in eating in a castle, she had also called ahead to Kinnity Castle (just up the road) and secured for us a special table in the Monk's Dungeon. After a delicious feast, we met back up with Christina at the local pub for an unforgettable jam-packed traditional Irish music event. The locals and Christina herself (one of the fiddlers) did not disappoint! Our teenagers and we alike had a fabulous time. A sound sleep and a full Irish breakfast topped off one of our favorite memories.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 March 2008

We stayed at the Ardmore House for our first two nights in Ireland. Perfect, even though my daughter was cold (but she's always cold). Big comfortable rooms, heated sheets, wonderful lounge (peat fire), great breakfasts, and lovely town. We visited Clonmacnoise, Birr, Leap Castle and Kinnitty Castle close by. Christina is quite a fiddle player. Highly recommended.

Ardmore House was one of the best B&Bs we stayed at in Ireland and the U.K. Chris Byrne , the proprietor made us very welcome and was a mine of information about the local area. We are into Irish Music and as a keen musician herself , she was able to point us to local 'sessions' and festivals. We won't forget a great night had at a local pub in the village. The music, singing and craic was the real thing and a treat for the senses.

...And then a little stroll back to our spacious room and sumptuous bed. The room has restful views to green hills and fields that invite reflection and exploration.Downstairs we enjoyed the use of a lovely sitting room.Outside flowers spill out of window boxes and the grounds invite you to ramble around and beyond, down quiet country roads. It's an easy stroll to Kinnitty Castle or the village and a short car ride to the Slieve Bloom mountains and the larger towns of Birr and Tullamore.

We liked Kinnitty so much we decided to return later. Chris was able to organize us a sweet little cottage for a longer stay. Ardmore House and Kinnitty ended up being a home away from home for us and a base for wider exploration as it is centrally located in Ireland and handy to Dublin,Galway and the North.

Chris is a warm and generous host who can't do enough for you. Ardmore House is a beautiful home and an authentic Irish experience. We take with us magic memories of green hills, a workout on the bogs, relaxing times, toe-tapping music, laughter and plenty of craic. We'll be back .
