Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are members and have been to Palace Resorts on 4 other occasions. First, thumbs up to the entertainment staff. We got to know Daniel, Ana, Erik, Rodrigo, and Xiomara very well. They really did a great job to make it a fun experience. Rodrigo and Eric were outstanding. They knew we liked sand volleyball and made it happen every day. Rodrigo always made a point to come see me when I made it to the pool. The dining experience was not that great. The food was good but not outstanding. Keep in mind we are comparing vs the Grand and Sun Palace. Getting dinner RSVP's was a challenge. We had a lot of seetings at 8:30 and 9:00 where we missed the shows. On the upside we showed up late one day for Momo and Daniel was still able to get us in. The next day Daniel got us to the Hibachi table to help make up for the reservations we missed. Daniel at Momo was simply awesome and made the dining experience much better. Finally, the pool situation was not good. Everyone gets up at 6:00 AM to put towels on their chairs that were barely used they entire day. We did take over some chairs at 10 am and at 3:30 someone came to us to tell us we had their chairs??? With our group of seven we had to fight just to get a single chair for all of us. It was very frustrating just seeing empty chairs with towels sit idle all day. If you have kids with you then this place may make sense. If not and you are on a tighter budget go to Sun Palace. Smaller place and better restaurants.

Hotel's Favourite
This is a small, clean, well-kept resort with absolutely the best employees ever! The service is fantastic, and you're treated like family. From the front desk to your room, the pool, bars and restaurant's everyone is focused on great customer service. You won't regret staying at Playacar Palace. If you go, make sure and visit Carmen and Isabel in the lobby, Israel, Setero, Selena, Yesenia, Julisa and Rigoberto in Cafe Del Mar. Miquel in Momo's. Salvador in Lahana. Ignacio, Aaron, Carmen, Alexis, Benito, Perla, Daniela, Ingrid, Sylvia, Ana, Valentin, and Carmelino at the pool and beach. Also, ask for Eder and tell him I said hello!

We stayed in a double queen room with a "partial ocean view" at the end of February. The view was debatable (you had to lean over the railing to see the ocean) but the room was really nice and updated with modern fixtures. I really appreciated the Chi toiletries and hair dry/flat iron and the nice big shower. The property is small and a bit older but charming, and the food was excellent, highly recommend the Momo restaurant. I really enjoyed all of the evening entertainment and the variety of shows each night. What makes this property amazing is the staff - the Cafe Del Mar staff were so nice, Rodrigo C at the pool was the best server, and the entertainment staff - Erik, Anna, Rodrigo and Daniel really go out of their way to make sure guests are having the best time. The only two cons were it was hard to get a decent shaded chair on the pool deck without going out first thing in the morning and the transportation to the resort took a really long time. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend.

Playacar palace is a great resort. Food is delicious and staff are top notch. Resort is close to Fifth avenue for shopping or picking up souvenirs. Also walking distance to the ferry to visit Cozumel for the day.

Had a good stay at playacar palace. I think is in need of an upgrade. As always the employees really make this place. Sommelier Antonio was fabulous with our wine tasting. Chef Giovanni made us spectacular salmon for lunch daily and Benito did a great job serving. Sylvia is perhaps the best waitress at the pool. She is absolutely wonderful. Daniella did a great job as well. I think the food service at the restaurants is wonderful with head chef Daniel! Don’t let him leave! Also everyone at the pool bar was great!

We have been to Playacar Palace six times. It is our favorite of all the Palace resorts! Being a smaller resort, we have got to know many of the amazing staff associates. The staff at Playacar Palace provide the most amazing service! Chef Daniel's staff provides such amazing food! We love the newly created Madre Mia restaurant! Mara, the manager of the Entertainment Team has the best staff in all the Palace Resorts (shout out to Rodrigo, Erik, Daniel, Ana, and Dana). We enjoy getting outside the resort! Within walking distance are six Myan ruin areas, a beautiful shopping area, and a gated community with beautiful houses (you can walk inside the gated community). Beaches are beautiful and having the boat access to Cozumel is a nice added feature!

This was a last minute booking because our Viator host cancelled the day prior to our trip. Pros: Staff is friendly. Location is near 5th Ave. Food is tasty although selection is somewhat limited. The Palace app is nice to reserve dinners at the restaurants and check times of activities. Cons: They try to get you to meet with a timeshare agent to schedule a "vacation club" sales pitch... really?? Pool area leaves much to be desired. The tile grout in the pool is dirty with black stuff. The water depth is very shallow. Many of the lounge chairs are reserved for "members" which makes you feel like you're in the lower class. Beach is eroded and the surf comes right up to the concrete walls in places. Overall, the hotel shows its age. Check out how nasty the bottom of the cooler and cabinets are behind the lobby bar. It shows a lack of attention to detail and questionable cleanliness. Spa prices are waaaay overpriced. Premium alcohol is not included and costs extra. In summary, I've stayed in the Playa del Carmen and Cancun area many times. I suggest that you do your homework and select a newer property that isn't so focused on capturing your future business as it is on your present stay.

Just finished our trip to Playacar Palace, what an absolute pleasure it was to stay here. I was concerned after reading a few of the reviews, after staying, I am not sure how anyone could write a bad review. The staff goes above and beyond to make this place special and it works. You can feel the pride everyone takes in giving you an experience to remember. We felt so welcome! The property is gorgeous, the app is so helpful and the view is like no other! Special thank you to the staff listed below. Your smiles, energy and hospitality made the trip! Andres Anna Daniel Juan Arturo
