“Started perfectly, turned out to be nightmare.”

We arrived there to San Cristobal and found the hotel by accident. Perfect location, close to the main square. The price was excellent (automatically offered lower rate than the published one) so we decided to stay. The room was fantastic, clean, modern very well kept so had a fantastic night there.
Based on the positive experience we decided to stay for one more night. The super unfriendly receptionist (different from the one we met the previous night) said that we can't stay in our rooom we have to move to an other one, and by the way, the price will be higher. After a bit of moaning we finally accepted it and moved to an other room.
After this I wanted to use the internet service which they advertised to use free of charge. The unfriendly receptionist managed to turn into even more unfriendly and was not willing to help at all. After repeated request she finally went to switch it on, but the PC did not work. For my polite complain she repsonded angrily, turned out to be a real [--], and sent me to the hell.
The night was not better at all. A bunch of high school kids arrived to the hotel in the evening, who went out for a disco I guess, and arrived back late after 2 o'clock. Some of them were dead drunk, but all of them were screaming at their highest voice for at least an other couple of hours.

“Charming, Clean, Safe Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2008

A friend and I stayed at Hotel La Noria for a week in June '08. The hotel was immaculate and felt very safe. Plenty of hot water, cable TV, Internet in the lobby for one dollar an hour. It's a good central location within walking distance of all the local sites. We were awakened by church bells every morning, which we found charming but you might not appreciate if you want to sleep late. The only other drawback is that the windows of the rooms open onto an atrium, not to the outdoors. In summary, it's a quaint little hotel with an authentic Mexican atmosphere and a good value for the money. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

  • Liked — cleanliness, safety, proximity to local attractions
  • Disliked — windows open to an atrium, not to the outdoors (lacks fresh air)

“Excellent hotel”

This was a great hotel, very well decorated and centrally located.
The rooms were large, bright and comfortable. Beds were good, and bathrooms decent as well.
We were very happy with the place and would certainly stay here again.
Only slight problem was how the noise carries with all the tiled surfaces, but that's just a feature of most Mexican hotels, and not a real criticism of this place.

  • Liked — Charming, colonial and very mexican
  • Disliked — Quite noisy with the tiled floors!

“Great Experience”

After having a not-so-great experience at the Media Luna, we decided to switch to La Noria. For only about $8.00 more a night, we had much nicer service, a more comfortable and secure room, free internet, drinking water and a basket of the usual hotel goodies in the bathroom. I would definate suggest La Noria to anyone going to San Cristobal.

“Nice, well-located hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2007

We (two senior ladies) stayed here for 4 nights in mid March. We had room 103 on the ground floor. It was 400 pesos ($36.36) for a carpeted room with 2 double beds, cable TV w/remote, desk, chair, bathroom with shower, hair dryer, and two bottles of water a day.

There was a large living room in the front of the hotel with sofas, chairs, and two (free) computers for guests use. The place is very clean, quiet, and just a short 2 blocks from the main park. There were several good places to eat within a block of the hotel and a laundry right across the street. The location could not have been better.

The reception personnel speak enough English to check you in/out but that's about all. However, that's all you really need. Breakfast is not offered but there is a cafe next door where you can get a discount if you stay at the hotel.

We were very happy to have found such a nice place for so little money!
