This was our 2nd visit to Trio. We found both experiences to be very similar, so hopefully this is an accurate review!
Food: absolutely delicious. You will not be disappointed with anything you order... It tastes even better than described on the menu. True Italian/Mediterranean cuisine, no compromises! The 3 or 4 course daily menu is good value as are the a la carte items.
Drinks: 1st visit we ordered a bottle of wine. The wine list was surprisingly sad and way overpriced. Knowing this we decided to have a couple cocktails each this time and forgo the wine. We had two dirty martinis each with middle of the road vodka. They were prepared perfectly (when we got them. We had to ask repeatedly). We were shocked when we got our bill and realized we were charged 135 pesos each. For the states or Canada 12 plus dollars for a drink is normal for an upscale place, but here in Mexico it is by far the most expensive drink we have come across anywhere. Anyways, not the end of the world. Next time we would have a cocktail before we go and perhaps just a glass of wine with dinner there.
Service and atmosphere: it is pretty, but sooo crowded, with tables close together you can't help but hear the conversations around you. So it's a little challenging to block all that out and enjoy your company, if you are not in a big group. There are two tables for two on the balcony upstairs. If that suits your needs, try and score one of those.... A little more tranquillo. Service is friendly, but not overly attentive, definitely not refined. We had to ask for pretty much everything... Water, menus ect. I think there is simply too many customers and not enough staff.
Overall: food is so good, we will be back for sure but next time we will avoid a Friday or Saturday night, have a drink before we come and lower our expectations of the service.
