This is a nice place to stay. It's not located in downtown Acapulco, which let me tell you it's a plus. The rooms are very very nice and well maintained. Food is a bit pricey but very good. Especially if you take the small vans or open carts to the Grand Mayan (you have access to all its amenities at no extra cost) and go to its restaurant. The buffet is nice and tasty and costs 250 pesos. The Samba, located in the Mayan Palace is also good and the buffet nice with only one thing to criticize. While our waiter Miguel was very helpful and nice, when I ordered a sliced tomato for my father (he needs to eat one daily because of his dr's orders), the head waiter said it was going to cost 38 extra pesos ( ONE tomato, really?). This should have been complementary, good costumer service.... The rest of the staff was very helpful and any request was given immediately. The hotel prices are higher than shown in the page, but it's totally worth it. The pool area is very good with shades to cover under because the sun is crazy. Close you have a great mall called La Isla, with expensive and not so expensive stores. If you got a room with a kitchenette, like the one we had, you can go to Walmart or such stores and get supplies. Both places require a taxi that will be requested for you by the front desk or the security people in the main entrance. When you. Me back with all your shopping bags, helpful staff will load all of it in luggage carts and sent straight to your room. The cleaning staff is very nice and will leave small Hershey's kisses on your pillow. If you smoke, of course you can't do it inside the room, but you can request an ashtray and do it outside, in the small balconies. All in all, the stay was very enjoyable and will definitely come back.

Let me just first say that this was in my TOP 3 vacations thus far. The Mayan Palace hotel was an excellent choice. The room was above expectations. It was equipped with a kitchenette which was very helpful for us to not have to eat out every meal. The hotel staff was fabulous...from the gentlemen at the entrance to the bartenders at the pool bar...to the staff at the on site restaurants...everyone was fabulous and treated us with the upmost respect. We were told that our vist 6/2 - 6/9 was during the down time, but it was perfect for us. Nothing was ever crowded, and we didnt have to wait for any service. The shuttle bus from the Mayan Palace to the Grand Mayan was readily available, so even though we were not on the ocean, it was just a short ride acorss the street. I'm not sure how easy / well that will work during peak season though. The things that I think need improvement are 1, the beach vendors. They are very annoying, constantly trying to sell you good and services. On the other hand..whatever you want is available for purchase ON THE BEACH at a discounted rate. If you deicide to buy from these folks bargain them down...they start high & will drop prices the more towards 5pm (time to go home) The other thing that was not so great..was the smell. When we asked the shuttle to take us to the FRONT GATE, there was an awful smell everytime on that ride. I think the sewage runs that route, but whatever it was it was GOD AWFUL. Overall though I truly have no complaints. WE DID hire a driver as advised. SEBASTIAN HERNANDEZ (acapulcofor_all@yahoo.com) was our awesome guide! He communicated with me for 3 weeks prior to our arrival and was at the airport as expected. He took us shopping upon arrival and took us on several outings that we chose to adventure out on during our stay. He was always available for us when we wanted to venture out (which I highly suggest to do) - We went out into the city and went to Paradise for a lovely meal on the beach...then ended the night at Mojito's with live Salsa. AWESOME!! SEBASTIAN HERNANDEZ (acapulcofor_all@yahoo.com) also on another night took us out to EL TEGUNDA, a lovely little restaurant in the city where we sampled many Mexican flavors..EXCELLENT food and staff! As for the TRAVEL AVISORY...yes it is obvious that it's quite possible that something has happened OR could happen. There was a huge FEDERAL POLICIA presence. They patrol the city like nothing I've ever seen in America, but with that said. I never seen one illegal activity or anything that looked suspect. The 1st few days I was a little concerned with the amount of police that I seen, but after that it was just apart of the scenery. I felt safe in my hotel...on the beach...in the city...and at all time with SEBASTIAN HERNANDEZ (acapulcofor_all@yahoo.com) ...and we went everywhere we wanted to go...we were not weary or holding back on our adventures. Go and enjoy your vacation...you will not be disapointed!!!

Room tip: Ask for a room facing the pool on the 3rd floor!!

My husband just spent a week at the Mayan Palace - our first visit back to Acapulco in 20 plus years. The Mayan is a lovely resort - beautiful grounds - the staff couldn't be nicer - but Baldo was the gem we found in Acapulco - reasonably priced, friendly, accommodating, helpful, there aren't enough adjectives. My husband required medical attention during the trip and Baldo not only helped us to get that but drove us around, translated and stayed with us throughout - he knows Acapulco and Acapulco knows Baldo - thanks to Baldo our trip was a huge success. We made a friend in Baldo and would highly recommend his services.

Room tip: If you can get a poolside view I highly recommend it - the only downside of our trip was the view of a construction site from our third floor suite.

Benjamin Alarcon made our trip awesome. Benjamin speaks English very well. He took us on the city tour and was a great tour guide. Everytime we needed him, he was right there for us. Benjamin took us to Costco and Walmart to pick up things we needed. Showed us where all the really good resturants were in Acapulco...My husband and I felt very safe having Benjamin as our driver. When we go back in January of next year we will be sure and look him up. He is the BEST.........E-mail me if you want his number......The Grand Mayan is such a beautiful place to stay. The grounds are really beautiful and well cared for. The employees there are all very nice and helpful. Check-in was great and we had an awesome room. The maids are wonderful. The pools were beautiful and the beach was a great place to walk in the mid-mornings. I felt safe the whole time we were in Acapulco.......In January we are going back and taking our daughter for the first time. The Grand Mayna Acapulco is a great vacation spot.......Lots of SUNSHINE....
