Just returned last week from my third trip to St. Lucia in six months. I was recovering from surgery and I wanted to relax with no fuss and no muss. I generally stay at the Coco Palm, but they were full. So I booked the Coco Kreole. What a treat!! I didn't realize how much I don't want people fussing over me. I want a clean room, quiet lobby where I can put my feet up and read a book. This hotel is great for people who are low maintenance. The pool sucks, but you can use all the amenities from the Palm and when you walk out of the lobby, you're on the main street with all the restaurants. People say it's noisy, but my room faced the pool and was very quiet. I am making my next reservation at the Kreole for January.

P.S. I was there for the 7.4 earthquake. Everyone freaked out!! Running and praying in the street, it was chaos. I'm from Cali, to me it was nothing.

After trawling through Tripadvisor for hours we chose to spend our two weeks at the Coco Palm in Rodney Bay, St Lucia. From the reviews on tripadvisor we decided it sounded like the place for us.

We spent two weeks there in March, we booked through Virgin Holidays. We had no problem with our booking and were very impressed with the Virgin Atlantic flight and the rest of the package.

The transfer from the airport was in a small minibus, the only passengers were going to the Coco Palm and it’s sister hotel Coco Creole, even so with the condition of some of the roads it took quite a long time, though a private transfer wouldn’t have saved much, if any time so I personally wouldn’t bother with one of those.

Once at the hotel, check in was smooth and easy, all the staff were helpful and able to answer any questions we had.

We booked a pool view room. It was large with two double (maybe bigger?) beds, excellent shower and views of the pool. It had patio doors so you could access the pool and bar from there which proved really handy when you’re sat around the pool. The only downside I can think of with the room is that when there was entertainment on in the evening you couldn’t get away from it as you could here it very loudly! The room was very clean and well kept, the Air conditioning worked well also.

The hotel itself was clean and tidy. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The free internet access was good for keeping in touch with family at home, though it could get busy!

The bar had a good choice of drinks, we tried our best to get through the cocktail menu but failed by missed a couple of them out! All the staff on there were great. The food in the restaurant was good, but there are lots of restaurants nearby. Our favourite was The Edge, a little expensive but definitely worth a visit!! The Thai restaurant next to Coco Creole was also very good, although the service there was a little slow, but the food was excellent. The local beer, Piton is nice and very drinkable! Restaurant prices varied upon where you dined and what you have to eat, The Edge was the most expensive (but worth it) but we thought they were not expensive, certainly not as much as we were expecting, so we had extra money for more trips. With all the local places to eat, it’s not really worth going All inclusive anywhere.

The beach is close by, the walk down the lane is fine if you ask me. That brings you out at one end, so you can walk down towards Spinakers, the beach bar. This has some good offers on drinks at happy hour and nice to watch the sun go down on an evening.

While we were there we went to Pigeon Island (free tour with Virgin holidays) that was worth the visit, if you get to the top it’s an excellent view. I’d really recommend the helicopter tour, that was well worth the money, you get to see all the island from a unique viewpoint! We decided to treat ourselves to the trip to the Grenadines. We really enjoyed the trip, though although they weren’t as desserted as they were made out to be, one was basically full of people trying to sell you things! That said it was a really great trip, the Grenadines are really beautiful. We also went to the volcano, mineral baths, the Pitons etc another good trip, you had the choice of half catamaran half bus tour or all catamaran or all catamaran, we did it all by catamaran and loved it! It was another good way to see all the sights and culture the island has to offer.

I would definitely recommend the Coco Palm to anyone wanting to stop in Rodney Bay.

Fabulous! A good quality, comfortable, professionally run small(er) hotel with a family feeling.

We were very pleasantly surprised at the Coco Palm. it's clean, modern, well run and comfortable. The rooms are large, spacious, airy, and attractive without feeling cold and sterile like so many other of the more classy hotels that we've stayed at. The staff at the Coco Palm, especially those that work 'front of house' are approachable and take a genuine interest in making sure that their guests enjoy their time at Coco Palm and St Lucia in general. Nothing is too much trouble for them, they go out of their way to make everyone feel at home - they obviously have a very strong team ethic and it shows. The food is good; breakfasts are great whether you choose the buffet or the menu and there is always lots of it whatever you pick, no problem with refills here - the lunches are basic, good value and freshly cooked. They've also got free wireless internet and if you're like us and take your 'puter everywhere you go this is a great, huge plus mark thanks to the hotel management who're clearly very web conscious.

The hotel grounds and surrounding are mostly very attractive and covered with well kept plants, they don't have much free land but what they do have is quite well kept and very pleasing to the eye. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from a beautiful beach with calm, blue waters. The locale is still being developed, the local infrastructure isn't very good yet and there is a good deal of building work going on and new businesses trying to become established but this didn't impact too much upon the experience we had whilst staying in the hotel.

If we had any complaints with Coco Palm they were that the restaurant food for evening meals/dinner is although of good quality is also extortionately expensive considering that the menu doesn't ever change and the low costs of restaurants in the local area. Also, that the live entertainment (bands etc) that the hotel employs nightly for the amusement of their guests are often turned up so loud that customers and guests can't hear themselves think let alone talk. If you don't mind this sort of thing you won't mind a pool facing or a 'swim-up' room, however if you're like us and like a quieter holiday then ask for a room at the rear of the hotel where the silence is wonderful and peaceful. They could also do with a gym and another bar for those people not into sports and who don't want to watch endless soccer and American football however the large screen TV although a real feature of the bar isn't too loud and doesn't encroach too much on people who just want a quiet drink with friends.

Of course, not everything is wonderful in paradise; St Lucia has more than its fair share of social problems and pushy street hawkers which sometimes can be difficult and threatening for visitors but Coco Palm's security staff always keep potential trouble out of the hotel grounds and thereby make the resort a safe place to be for all of their guests, from the very young to the not so young. This is popular hotel with families and the staff go our of their way to make sure that their little guests feel as much at home as do their parents.

If we ever return to St Lucia this is where we'll stay. All in all we loved it and were sad to leave.

We stayed at Coco Palm Resort for 6 nights in November 2007 and had a lovely time. The resort is located in the center of the Rodney Bay / Reduit Beach area, about 90 minutes by taxi from the international airport.

We were in a garden view room, 3rd floor, which was well appointed and spacious. Large shower and even a fancy coffee-maker and mini-fridge in the room. The only complaint was the air-conditioning, which was adequate at night but left the room quite warm during the daytime. Probably because the hallways are not airconditioned at this property, just the guest rooms and hotel lobby. From the garden side of the property we could still hear the live band poolside, but it was quiet enough to sleep without being disturbed. If you stay on the pool side, plan to be awake until the band finishes at night!

The property is about a 5 minute walk from Reduit Beach. On the way to the beach you will pass many excellent restaurants and bars. Our favorites: Claude's, Razmatazz (Indian), and Spinnaker's (right on the beach). Also nearby are a grocery store and drug store.

The property is about 2 years old and well-maintained. There was some construction going on at the hotel while we were there, with work starting 9-10 AM continuing until 8 PM some nights. Looked to be nearly finished, but if you're traveling in the near future ask for a room away from the ongoing remodeling if you don't want to be disturbed.

Overall a very nice hotel with friendly, helpful staff, convenient location for sampling lots of Rodney Bay / Reduit Beach restaurants, and lovely pool/bar area. If you want to stay right ON the beach you'll need to look elsewhere, but if you don't mind the short walk this hotel is for you.

I hope you are all ready for a bit of a novel but there is so much to say. my wife and I stayed at the the coco palm by default really as we had booked the coco kreole however on arrival this was shut for some reason. However, we struck lucky as it turned out , this hotel was superb.

From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed due completely to the staff. The professionalism, frienliness and work ethic of them all is in our opinion second to none. they do take a real interest in you as poeple not customers, and there not friendly to sell something.

From the room cleaner, bell boys, reception, security, clerical and the bar /restaurant staff, day and night the standard of them all was excellent.

They will go out of there way to help and assist which to there credit appears very natural.

Characters to watch out for are Kirma, Patricia, Ash, Arnold, Peppy, Sanjay, Genevieve, Kirvan, Marina and the list goes on, they are all good people.

Now Rodney Bay is close by, the beach is 200 metres approx,
only busy on cruise ship days really. The restaurants nearby are on the whole very very good our personal favourite ku de ta thai food and fantastic.

Other good places (buzz ) but needs some paint and tlc. Spinnakers on the beach , food is great but the staff on the whole need to cheer up they always looked unhappy.

Ti Banane the coco palm restaurant is lovely and if you dont see want you want on the menu they will try to do what you want within reason of course.

Another place to try is the restaurant . A beach shack at pigeon Island it is definately worth visiting this when you go for your historic walk to the fort some day, try the lamb roti mmmmmmm
and maybe somecalamaris mmmmmmmm.

If your interested in golf the course is pretty good a little wet when I played but ok. In my opinion you would be better taking your own clubs as the hire ones are not great and check whether there is a competition on the day you play if so don't go you will only get 9 holes, but the course is definately worth a look.

My wife and I went for a holiday and for a family wedding and enjoyed it so much we will undoubtedly go back.

St Lucia has its problems like any other place such as street begging of sorts they seem to chat to you in a friendly manner and hang around you for a while, you have 2 options: 1/ tell them they are not getting anything in a firm manner, or 2/ give them something. Be aware though its probably fro whacky backy.

The other problem we saw was rats. Now dont run off screaming fellas they are there but what do you expect they are everywhere in the world you only notice them more because you are always outdoors, its not a problem.

We recommend the 1/2 day jungle safari, I cant remember the company but the jeep was zebra striped our driver was called wait for it GUNSMOKE and the guide was the brilliant RICHARD, all I can say is BRILLIANT ALL OF IT.
Finally would I recommend coco palm resort YES, would I recommend Rodney Bay YES, Would I go back YES IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE.

I hope you enjoy it as much as us connie and graham
