“A beautiful and peaceful place in which to relax, reflect or recover from adventures in the rain forests and mountains.”

On a return visit to Beau Rive and Dominica, I was anxious to see if my good memories of the past would still remain. I wasn't disappointed. The hotel is now complete, the two garden cottages being finished. The garden has matured, the view is as stunning as ever, and the hotel itself welcoming and comfortable. I was delighted to find many new and delicious dishes on the menu, all using fresh local ingredients, which Mark and his staff have created. All seems to run with quiet efficiency and the staff are charming and helpful. For the latter part of my stay I was lucky enough to stay in one of the cottages. They are the same size as the other rooms but you feel you are in a small house, private and surrounded by scented gardens, with your individual view. Even the middle of the nights are a treat when standing on the balcony looking at the blanket of stars above you - an experience so rare in the overlit West! It is hard to criticize Beau Rive. All I can say is that if you love A/C, TV and minibars you will hate it. But, on the other hand, if your idea of a tropical holiday is the breeze blowing through the shutters as you lie on your vast colonial style bed contentedly digesting another great meal and serenaded by the music of nocturnal frogs, you will love it! Beau Rive is a deceptively sophisticated experience.

“Perfect in every way”

I booked Beau Rive because I had read all the wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor and they were so right! What a perfect place to relax and enjoy the Garden of Eden atmosphere of Dominica. Mark really is the perfect host - charming, helpful and informative and so keen for you to enjoy your stay. His tips really did help us to get the most from our trip. Our room was large, light and pretty with the most wonderful view. Mark's food was outstanding, using local ingredients and the best cooking we had on the island. We loved the dogs and the cat with attitude. If you have any sense of adventure, do rent a car to explore but whatever you do, not from Budget. We had terrible service from them and an ancient 4-wheel drive with an almost flat tyre. I wished we had used Courtesy Cars (contact: [--]) who has a booth right next to Budget at Melville Hall airport and is cheaper and considerably more charming. Next time we will - and I so hope there will be a next time so we can stay at Beau Rive again.

“An unforgettable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2009

The staff was incredibly friendly and qualified. The food (local) was fantastic and the room was big, clean and very comfortable. The location is superb. I was there for 14 days. Beau Rive has the perfect mix of comfort and seclusion: a location where you can relax. Highly recommended.

“I loved it here ... often think about our stay here and how lovely it was.”

We stayed for four nights at Beau Rive and really enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely with a beautiful view. The food was brilliant and the homemade yogurt was really special! Also, I loved the coconut bread! Mark was helpful giving us ideas about where to go and what to see, things we may have missed without his help. Beau Rive was the first place we stayed at in Dominica and we subsequently went on to stay in three other locations but I think Beau Rive was the best. I would thoroughly recommend it if you want to relax somewhere with a beautiful view, good food and helpful host and staff.
