“Very comfortable and relaxing”

Stayed here this weekend just gone and had a lovely relaxing time. The hotel was very quiety but that's to be expected at this time of the year. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean and with a big bathroom. The bed was super comfy and the curtins are quite heavy, great for blocking out light. The hotel's setting is gorgeous, we had a nice stoll around the hotel grounds. Even though it is off the main road it is well sign-posted so we had no trouble finding it. We had food in the bar when we arrived which was basic but very nice. The bar itself is a lovely spot. Later that evening we had dinner. I'm a vegtarian and there was nothing veggie on the menu, I told the waitress this and she spoke to the chef. She returned with the option of 2 different starters and 2 different mains. I opted for a pasta main which was 100% delicious!! The nicest I've had in a very long time. My boyfriend has steak and it was cooked just as he'd asked. Desserts were gorgeous too. Completely stuffed after the meal! Breakfast the next moring was buffet style and there was plenty of choice. Overall the food was great, the staff are so friendly and helpful and the hotel is really comfortable. The only downfall is that there is no spa or leisure centre to entertain you during the day.

We stayed as a group of 4 golfers. The ceck in was quick and we were given one of the apartments as there was a wedding on in the hotel. We had a good breakfast there, carvery tasted great. The apartment were very clean and practical, very modern feel with kitchen come dining come living room. twin, and double room with a couch that coverted into a double bed. The golf course was superb, a little on the tough side as its a inland links course. The greens were perfect and bunkers well planned. we will come back to Moyvalley

“WEDDING”

Hi

I saw the website and was really taken by the beautiful pics. I stayed in the hotel - not in a cottage. I thought the hotel had a celtic tiger property builder feel to it. The food was lovely but not overly amazing. the biggest gripe I'd have was that the wedding atmosphere was poor - the bride and groom had only 80 people at it and as the dancing was separate to the meal we found the mood to be disjointed. if i was my wedding i'd have been devastated that the guests were not so jazzed up. all in all the place is pretty and the food good, i just wouldn't recomend it for a wedding - its just too small and disjointed to make an impact. sorry.

“A complete 5 star experience”

We just held our wedding reception in Balyna House at Moyvalley Hotel. Our guests availed a range of accommodation ranging from the luxury rooms in the period mansion to 2 bedroom cottages and apartments. The rooms were luxuriously furnished in Balyna House and very comfortably furnished elsewhere. The cottage / apartment option was popular both with parents of young children and groups of friends wanting a little private space for socialising. We got fabulous weather and the grounds are amazing, both in size and how well-groomed they are. The facility of having Balyna House for your exclusive use for the whole weekend really makes the experience very special.

The most remarkable thing we found however was the service - without exception, every single member of staff went out of their way to be helpful. Most of our guests also commented on the pleasantly surprising high level of service. In addition the food was excellent - far exceeding our expectations. If I would have one negative comment it would be that portion size was too large (and that's not really a complaint).

Overall a truly wonderful experience. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

D

“Scenic location, comfortable rooms but hotel not suitable for small kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2009

Spent 1 night in Moyvalley with my husband and 4 year old recently. The hotel is very nicely decorated and is in a lovely location . On checking in we were given a funny reaction when we mentioned booking through expedia which by the way was £60 cheaper than booking through the hotel. We asked for an extra bed for our little boy which was brought immediatley and was a very comfortable bed. The room was very comfortable although a bit small. We met up with some friends and had a meal in the bar which was very nice , really nice dessert selection. We didn't spend very long in the hotel during the evening but on arriving back it seemed very quiet. The following morning we went for breakfast which was buffet style and then hot food could be ordered which arrived quickly . This hotel is very nice but a bit quiet and out of the way for families .
