“warm and welcoming, feel part of the family in this beautiful bed & breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2010

Spent three nights in the lovely town of Bruff last week. The Old Bank Bed & Breakfast comes highly recommended in the area and having looked at the website we were looking forward to visiting. It certainly didnt disappoint. The building itself is beautiful and has been lovingly restored and converted from its original use as a bank. The character of the building is still very much alive with the high ceilings and the ornate tiles in the hallway. We were warmly greeted by Miriam who showed us to our room which was clean, bright and tastefully decorated. The beds were very firm and as I had injured my back before I arrived I was delighted to discover they were of such a good standard. We slept very well and very peacefully during our stay. Even though Miriam is a mother of three young (and gorgeous!) children she still had the time to take to chat with us each morning and gave us information on the area, where to eat, what to see etc. Breakfasts were prepared to order and I can recommend the pancakes as a good start to the day! The fire was lighting in the little snug off the dining room each evening when we came in and we availed of the chance to sit and do some reading. Internet access was freely available on a dedicated computer upstairs should you feel the need to do some real work during your stay! Overall we felt that it was really good value for money and a most pleasant stay.

“Wonderful Welcome and Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

My husband and I spent 2 lovely nights with Miriam in the lovely Old Bank.
Charming and warm, the atmosphere is very relaxing. We used this location as a base to explore the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and surrounding area.
Miriam recommend the Bake House for an evening meal and as with all of her recommendations it was excellant. Would recommend a stay in The Old Bank for friends & family and anyone who wants to experience its charm and Miriam's home baking !

“All the comforts of home...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

This is the second consecutive year we have stayed at the Old Bank. Both occasions have been for family birthday parties in the nearby village of Hospital. I would not call this a bed and breakfast but a good quality, boutique hotel. I noticed this year it has been awarded a 4 star rating by the A&A and this is truly well deserved. Miriam owns the hotel with her husband Pat - they also look after a family of three, run a butchers shop and have cattle and yet they still manage to run a hotel to a high standard and take a lot of time to look after their guests. It was really like being at home - very cheerful, chatty and helpful host, beautifully clean bedrooms and great Irish breakfasts. Miriam is a very proud host and really pays attention to detail - we never wanted for anything, she recommended places to stay, taxi companies to use and even provided a lift one morning to another village. We have another family birthday celebration next year and will most certainly be staying at the Old Bank.

“Home-from-home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

Situated in the middle of the little town of Bruff, this is a classy b+b. As a vegetarian, I was particularly impressed with the inclusion of pancakes on the breakfast menu - and they were delicious!

Miriam had prepared a bedroom at the front for me, but the windows didn't open and I prefer to sleep with open windows. When I asked, I was immediately relocated to a room at the back with an opening window and a pair of delightful courting house martens outside.

There was free access to an online computer so I was able to check in for my flight and print out the e-ticket. Top class!

“A delightful welcome”

The Old Bank and the town of Bruff are a highly recommended stop for anyone touring the West Coast and a great alternative to nearby Limerick.

Miriam could not be a more accommodating or charming host, providing us with everything we needed for a wonderful stay as well as some excellent tips for eating and drinking in her lovely home town.

The rooms are very generous in size and beautifully styled. Our ensuite also featured a jacuzzi. Fab! The beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms quiet.

Breakfast was generous and fresh and we were sent on our way with a spring in our step.

Thanks Miriam!
