We stayed at the Gravina Cinco for 7 nights. It is a small hotel with 20 rooms, appeared to be 4 rooms on each level. (when we stayed we did not experience unreasonable noise level as mentioned in some other reviews). It is part of the Tryp hotel group as mentioned in an earlier review.
If you are looking for a hotel with a sea view and tremedous buffet breakfast, this might not be the hotel for you. If you are looking for a nice clean hotel to base yourself, this hotel is ideal. It is situated about 5 mins from the tram stop, airport bus stop, beach and marina and is located in the old town. There are plenty of tapas bars and restaurants situated nearby.
The buffet breakfast was quite basic, ie tea, coffee, small rolls, toast, cheese and ham, but this was adequate enough for us in the morning. For us, the location more than compensated for the buffet breakfast and the rooms were more than adequate for our purpose.
Alicante is very chilled out, it is lovely just chilling by the marina or beach. We found the the tapas chain, Lizarran was fantastic. It is self service and you pay depending on the number of sticks that are left on your plate. We would definitely recommend you pay a visit to Lizarran (based on La Rambla)!!
Whilst in Alicante, we took day trips to Murcia by bus, Benidorm and Altea by tram and Valencia by Euromed (from Main train station). Valencia is 1.30hr away - definitely worth a visit.
Really enjoyed our time in Alicante and would recommend this hotel.
