“Home for the weekend..........”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2010

I and my partner decided to get a break from our busy lives and so I planned of checking out some nice getaway for the weekend. Well, it has to be the beach coz we're both beach bums....

On top of the list I have managed to get, I picked Panglao tropical villas.
And I never did go wrong with my choice.

We had so much of an experience that I would really want to go back there and spend more time under the sun...

My partner liked it too..

Everyone was really accommodating... I had even asked the owner's son to take a photo of me beside the pool area.

Thanks much!

“Fantastic Getaway. Great Service, Warm Staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2009

We decided on a stay with Panglao Tropical Villas, having read the vast majority of favourable reviews on Tripadvisor.

Having made enquiries with Angie (who was very helpful), we booked Villa Vidas for a week. There were 6 of us in all. The rooms were clean, cosy, the airconditioning worked fine, and the bedsheets get replaced every single day. Villa Vidas also has a kitchen and it was great for cooking instant noodles and the like.

George, the resident driver/tour guide, brought us around Bohol for a day trip as well and everyone of us had only good things to say about him.

We had the swimming pool right in front of the Villa, although we did not utilise it enough, preferring the beach and the diving to the pool. There is a beach volleyball net and area as well as hammocks whereby you can lie on the beach and watch the sun go down.

The only gripe we had was the water pressure of the showers on the 2nd floor, which we understand that the staff was working on to rectify, but that's really just us nitpicking on an otherwise excellent stay at the Villas.

The husband and wife team of Howard and Angie were always cheery and helpful and certainly helped ensure that we had a most excellent stay there. Highly recommended for a quiet holiday, away from Alona beach.

“A Real Gem”

I can't say enough about how enjoyable our stay at Panglao Tropical Villas was. My wife and I treated her family to a very relaxing enjoyable holiday. The staff were wonderful. Angie and her staff went out their way to make us feel at home. The accomodations were impeccible. Villa Kiam had ample room for eight adults plus 2 babies and our driver. To top it all off it was affordable. I researched a lot of resorts on Panglao and I would say that Tropical Villas gave the best value. Our only regret..... We didn't stay long enough.

  • Liked — My wife and her mother liked the kitchen. I liked the Pool, landscaping and the beach.
  • Disliked — Didn't get to stay long enough.

“Our experience on Panglao Tropical Villas - Villa Kiam”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

We are a party of 8 adults and 4 kids and book for a 3 nights/ 4days stay to avail of the free van service to and from resort (meet and send off). We made the required 50% cash deposit months in advance before our trip to the Philippines. We were originally book to stay at the Villa Vidas, a newer 3 room villa but was told the day before of our arrival by fast ferry from Cebu that the said villa was unavailable (it was occupied) and was offered the villa kiam instead, with the same rate if we only occupy 3 rooms out of 5 rooms. Since we have kids and seniors to consider, we decided to take all the 5 rooms at Villa Kiam.
First Day - The service to meet us at the seaport was superb with George as our driver, very hospitable and helpful. Settling after check in on the Villa was another story. We notice the following deficiency. The fridge was not working, depriving us the needed cold refreshments that we brought along because of the heat. The aircon unit and washroom of room no.3 was not working also, A/C makes a lot of noise and toilet bowl is clogged. Also some lights needs replacements. We brought all of this concern to the attention of the staff, who were very apologetic and made arrangements to provide us with needed coolers with ice, promise to have the fridge replace and to fix the A/C unit the next morning.
2nd, 3rd and 4th day - Overall, I would say that our extended family did enjoy their stay swimming in the pool and on the beach during low tide. Comment on the kiddie pool though, the metal railings is corroding and is not good for the kids to have a cut.
The staff service are exceptional and is worth mentioning and lastly when we paid our bill by credit card, we were charge an additional 4% of the total amount. We were not informed about this until we check out. I don't know if this the resort or bank policy? We would have preferred being told upfront about this.

“Almost perfect, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

I know that I will be criticized for my opinion, but I am just being honest.

Positives - Angie, her husband, son and her staff are so wonderful!!! We were treated so well, and we will never forget their hospitality. Anything we wanted or requested, no problem. We also loved the fact that there is a pool on the property even though the resort is ON the beach. Sometimes though it's just nice to relax in the pool. There is also a kiddie pool that my 3 yr. old daughter just loved, so this is definitely a plus for those of you who have young children. The food is amazing, sorry I can't remember his name, but the cook is awesome!

Negatives - This is NOT the fault of the resort, but please beware that there are "invisible" fleas (mosquitoes???) that come out during the evenings, and if you do not put on protection, I will guarantee you that you will be EATEN alive by these insects or bugs!!! My parents, who live in the Philippines (and you'd think they are immune to most of the insects there) were the ones that got attacked badly (they didn't use Off), and actually had these disgusting itches and blotches all over their bodies!!! I also wish that the water pressure was more consistent, but I guess this is the Philippines after all and those kinds of things you just take it as it is. I also noticed a few "uninvited" guests such as small roaches, but again, this is the Philippines. Having rented the whole house (Villa Vidas) for 4 adults and 2 children, this was definitely a perfect place for us with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. But, air-conditioning in the living room/dining room would have been nice, but they are only in the bedrooms so during the hot months, it can get uncomfortable.

Overall, this is a nice place to stay especially if you are on a budget. Next time though, I think we will try Linaw down the road although I highly doubt we will be back in these parts of Panglao. We will go back to where there is a bit more "action". It was just way too quite for us city folks. :-)
