“Our experience on Panglao Tropical Villas - Villa Kiam”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

We are a party of 8 adults and 4 kids and book for a 3 nights/ 4days stay to avail of the free van service to and from resort (meet and send off). We made the required 50% cash deposit months in advance before our trip to the Philippines. We were originally book to stay at the Villa Vidas, a newer 3 room villa but was told the day before of our arrival by fast ferry from Cebu that the said villa was unavailable (it was occupied) and was offered the villa kiam instead, with the same rate if we only occupy 3 rooms out of 5 rooms. Since we have kids and seniors to consider, we decided to take all the 5 rooms at Villa Kiam.
First Day - The service to meet us at the seaport was superb with George as our driver, very hospitable and helpful. Settling after check in on the Villa was another story. We notice the following deficiency. The fridge was not working, depriving us the needed cold refreshments that we brought along because of the heat. The aircon unit and washroom of room no.3 was not working also, A/C makes a lot of noise and toilet bowl is clogged. Also some lights needs replacements. We brought all of this concern to the attention of the staff, who were very apologetic and made arrangements to provide us with needed coolers with ice, promise to have the fridge replace and to fix the A/C unit the next morning.
2nd, 3rd and 4th day - Overall, I would say that our extended family did enjoy their stay swimming in the pool and on the beach during low tide. Comment on the kiddie pool though, the metal railings is corroding and is not good for the kids to have a cut.
The staff service are exceptional and is worth mentioning and lastly when we paid our bill by credit card, we were charge an additional 4% of the total amount. We were not informed about this until we check out. I don't know if this the resort or bank policy? We would have preferred being told upfront about this.

“Almost perfect, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

I know that I will be criticized for my opinion, but I am just being honest.

Positives - Angie, her husband, son and her staff are so wonderful!!! We were treated so well, and we will never forget their hospitality. Anything we wanted or requested, no problem. We also loved the fact that there is a pool on the property even though the resort is ON the beach. Sometimes though it's just nice to relax in the pool. There is also a kiddie pool that my 3 yr. old daughter just loved, so this is definitely a plus for those of you who have young children. The food is amazing, sorry I can't remember his name, but the cook is awesome!

Negatives - This is NOT the fault of the resort, but please beware that there are "invisible" fleas (mosquitoes???) that come out during the evenings, and if you do not put on protection, I will guarantee you that you will be EATEN alive by these insects or bugs!!! My parents, who live in the Philippines (and you'd think they are immune to most of the insects there) were the ones that got attacked badly (they didn't use Off), and actually had these disgusting itches and blotches all over their bodies!!! I also wish that the water pressure was more consistent, but I guess this is the Philippines after all and those kinds of things you just take it as it is. I also noticed a few "uninvited" guests such as small roaches, but again, this is the Philippines. Having rented the whole house (Villa Vidas) for 4 adults and 2 children, this was definitely a perfect place for us with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. But, air-conditioning in the living room/dining room would have been nice, but they are only in the bedrooms so during the hot months, it can get uncomfortable.

Overall, this is a nice place to stay especially if you are on a budget. Next time though, I think we will try Linaw down the road although I highly doubt we will be back in these parts of Panglao. We will go back to where there is a bit more "action". It was just way too quite for us city folks. :-)

“Home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2009

Panglao tropical villas is our home away from home. Love everything about it, the owner , the staff, the food, the tour, etc. Owner and staff are very accomodating, I would say they are my family when I am in Panglao Phils. I would highly recommend Panglao Tropical Villas for everybody specially Balikbayan that want to treat their whole big family.
The place accomodates everyone, young and old. They will pick you up from the port, air or sea, take you shopping, they can arrange land and sea tour. Kitchen is available if the family wants to cook or you can just place or order and wait for the food to be ready. Grill is available. And if you wish for a soothing massage, Miss Angie will make it possible for you. Kids ? no problem the pool has a kiddie area for your little one, my daughter loved it ,she even dont want to leave the place. We will be back for sure.

“One of the best trips i've ever had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2009

What could i say, the hubby's owner (Angie) Howard Hoffman is the man!!!! Their family and all his staff were more than accomodating, friendly and corteous! Kudos to Janet, driver wonder Goerge and Mario the bangka-slash-yacht cabin boy! They really made you feel like royalties out there.

We stayed at the Villa Vidas, a nice two storey and three bedroom villa complete with all the amenities, bathtub, 2 bathroom, a full functioning kitchen, an outdoor shower room, a great view of the beach and an excellent front door view, the big pool is directly in front of it!

The beach was perfect, the view was more the perfect ... it was divine especially the sunset, spectacular! Hope to be back again soon. Missed the Angelina V bangka, Howard really pimped up that rad bangka! And thanks for the free marlboro lights! lol

“Serenity at its finest.”

I made reservations online and Ms. Angie Hoffman was courteous enough to answer all my inquiries. Me, my boyfriend and friends stayed at Villa Angelus, the smallest villa in the resort. It was quaint, well-designed and very native looking. The bedrooms are decent, and the whole villa is clean. The hot/cold shower works, though the water temperature was inconsistent. The lush greens are lovely, and very well-maintained. The pool has warm water, which makes it really incedible to dip in, especially at night. The whole place is really peaceful and serene, and perfect if you're planning to have a vacation with your family or if you're a big group.

One thing I would like to suggest is that they clean up their beachfront. It would be better if they regularly get rid of the dried leaves and twigs that float on the beach. Also take note that there's lowtide in the afternoon which makes it almost unswimmable. You'd have to walk through a rocky lowtide shore with sea urchins and other sea creatures to be able to reach the water and swim.

Over all, our stay there was lovely. The owner, Ms. Angie even personally brought us to Alona beach, without extra chage, where we transferred to another resort. We also wanted to experience staying at Alona beach, that's why. Panglao Tropical Villas is highly recommended, you won't regret every minute of staying there.
