“ help needed to plan our holliday ”

Hello everyone .my girlfreind and i will be visiting the philippines for 17 days at the begining of feb we are 38 years old and have never visited philipines before. from reading rough guide etc. we thought about puerto galera to start with 4-5 days for my girlfreind to complete her PADI advanced .we wanted somewhere with plenty of dive shops to choose from. BUT I'm not sure if it is the right place for price and the type of resort. We both like reasonably Quiet resorts but would like to start off in a new country ,not too remote. we thought about visiting Bohol and maybe Malapascua , we will be traveling without booking any hotels or guest house after the first few days as we thought we may get some advice once we were in the country. hence visiting a busy resort first. so we could talk to people who can give us advice. All advice will be apreciated...cheers

Puerta Galera is full of dive shops that can fit your recreational needs. The folks in the diving community there can also advise you on other options around the country to complete your trip and fulfill your desires for the trip. It would make a good jumping off point for your whole trip.

There are lots of options for hotels in Puerta Galera and you can probably do fine just showing up and booking off the streets. That approach, however, can lead to a bit of an adventure as you may not find exactly what you want on the first try! Although there are a lot of bars and such in Puerta Galera central, the surrounding area offers quiet and excellent diving.

Hello

You have posted this to the Cebu City forum but there are no resorts and there are no beaches in Cebu City because the Cebu City coast line is taken up with shipping and industry. The resorts near Cebu City are on Mactan Island, the same place as the international airport.

There are plenty of dive shops on Mactan Island if you want to dive using them.

Thanks Goodpace and Big Jim . Your advice is verry welcome and realy reasuring. i am looking forward to be in the philippines . I will be needing a clean and safe hotel near the airport when we arrive on plane . Do you have any advice??? THanks again..

Hi Matysaver,

There are a lot of diveshops in Mactan Island which are PADI accredited like the Blue Coral. Their office is located within the White Sand Resort compound. Check their diving packages. And you can continue your diving in moalboal, located at the southern part of cebu, about 2 hours by car. Moalboal is a much better divesite (and road condition in going there is good) compared to the road going malapascua. I went there yesterday to drop a guest for malapascua. For a cheaper accomodation and diving package in moalboal, try the CABANA Beach Resort. They offer reasonable prices.
