 Driving in Lugano

I was wondering what the roads were like in Lugano. We live in Germany and sometimes our car (audi q5) can be a tight squeeze depending on where we are. I know that Lugano is near the Italian border, I was wondering if the roads are anything like they are in Italy: tiny, winding, not made for larger cars. Do you think we'll have any issues? (Trying to decide whether we should stay outside of the city or not)

thanks

The roads inside the town of Lugano is like the roads in every city. Some are big some narrow. It depends were you want to go. My car is audi A4 avant and I never had problem to drive in the city or around it. Of course there are not so wide as the road in Germany.

You won't have any problems with driving inside the city of Lugano and from/to the highway. Anyway the small historic part is mainly pedestrians only and in the newer parts roads are large enough for your car.

However driving through the tiny villages in Ticino or for instance along Lago di Lugano eastwards towards Menaggio is a different story. There you would better switch to a Smart ;-)
