Lugano Forum: Zurich to Lugano

Thank you for your quick reply. We were hoping on travelling from Zurich to Lugano via the Bernina Express. What is the best way to do this? We will be travelling with luggage.

You are aware that the Bernina route is a huge detour compared to the direct train (which is also very scenic)?

The difficulty is the last part - while the trains to St. Moritz and then over the Bernina pass down to Tirano are frequent, the last leg to Lugano is an express bus that runs once per day. Otherwise you would have to take a train from Tirano to Milan and then backtrack to Lugano.

If you can spend 2-3 days enroute it would be nice and pleasant. But not just to get there.

I want to see Swissminiatur in Melide and i need to travel from Zurich to Lugano by bus or train.

After i visit Melide i want to go to Zagreb. Any suggerstion ?

Bus is not an option.

You can look up the schedules from Lugano to Zagreb at www.sbb.ch but for the distance it rather makes sense to fly from Milan.

Alternatively there may be long distance buses to Zagreb: www.eurolines.com
