I am planning a trip in 2014, at April 10th, the week before Easter
I should like to walk to La Scala and all the nice churces in a more summer-like weather than Norway with snow and minus degrees ;)
It may rain but temperature is pleasant.
Immagine that heating must be stopped by law the 15th of April.
Pay attention to the fact that from the 8th to the 13th of April there is the "Salone del Mobile" (furniture exhibition) and Milan is packed, nearly impossible to find a place to sleep unless you book really in advance and pay the highest prices.
Edited: 10 years agoOK, whats the situation the week after Easter Sunday, lets say from Wed 23d to Wed 3oth ?
Weather should be even better and milan not too crowded as april 25th is a national holiday.
April could still be chilly, this year the weather was terrible so it was quite cold so the later in April you go the better.
Ok, my travel is to be from 23d then.
Its The Last Supper that is THE reason why I travel :-)
I cannot grasp why I - at an considerable age of almost 60- never have got the fact that this masterpiece is NOT an small oil painting in Louvre,
but in fact a mural in Milan, in the refectory of Santa Maria delle Grazie!
Now I know, and now I am on my way - but do we need some tickets to get in - or is this refectory open to public just walk in, see it and take photos??
Where is this Church - in the centre of the city ?
A friend tipped me about Conciliazione Metro - it was only a short walk from there ?
Edited: 10 years agoLast supper is accessible only with reservation (to be done really in advance) and you must be there half an hour before.
I am using a smartphone, with calm i will give you some tips, Milan is rich in art and museums.
Conciliazione metro is about m.300 to Santa Mriandelle Grazie, it's the nearest underground station
Well... while in Milan if you like big famous paintings you might consider Raphael's drawing for "the school of Athens" at Pinacoteca Ambrosiana http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8334/8449674073_9995f6bbf7_o.jpg that hosts also many Leonardo's drawings
