A View of Rome B&B, is it true???

I have booked 3 nights at A View of Rome B&B as a suprise for my wifes 30th birthday as she has always wanted to experience Rome. Can all the amazing reviews of this place be true and anyone have any advice on places to eat (including somewhere special for my wifes birthday meal) and any must do things while we are there?

Many thanks in advance

Hard to tell - lots of first time submissions amongst those reviews, but quite possibly the B&B's owners have actively encouraged satisfied guests to do the "if you liked it, tell all your friends" thing? Some will!

They do though pass one of my more cynical tests - that of not always getting the hosts' names right: you'll see not only Livio and Daniele, but also the occasional Livo, Livy, Danielle and Daniellie.

Fingers crossed for you!

You can read some mixed reviews here:

some are old but it gives you a more complete idea of what to expect. These are reviews by people who completed a stay at the B&B.

Thanks guys but Donna, that is not the place I am staying, I've booked a view of Rome which is next to the Vatican.

Sorry, that's what came up when I did a net search. I'll see if I can find a different hotel with the same name.

I also just booked several nites in this B&B based on Trip Advisor reviews.

I also had the same question--is it true? Donna, I will also appreciate any input you have. The reviewers seemed so varied that I thought it was on the level.

Last year I did stay at a B&B in Catania, Sicily where I am sure the reviews were ginned up..So I am a bit more careful now.

It is very noticeable that their are a number of Hotels in Rome on Trip Advisor that have a lot of reviews by single posters, and often these reviews all say very similar things: i.e. very friendly staff, familty atmosphere, nice local restaurant, and no downside.

Very occasionally this run of similar sounding positive reviews is split by a single extremely negative review by somebody with more than one post to their name.

Not something I've noticed too much with hotels in other cities that I've looked at.

In 2008, we stayed at a B&B called Arco dei Tolomei in Trastevere and I booked it solely on the Trip Advisors advice - we couldn't have been happier, that we are going back in two weeks. The reviews were fabulous and even the parts about it looking like an old run down apartment building was true - but heck it's Rome and this part of Rome has not been renovated like other parts. My husband was very skeptical when he saw the outside but once inside and Lena's homemade baking for breakfast, he wanted to return.

I have also booked to go here in a few months time - I'm hoping the reviews are correct! (also a birthday trip). When do you go? Would be happy to hear how you get on......
