Cinque Terre consists of 5 villages along the coast of Italy; Monterosso, Corniglia, Vernazza, Manarola, and Riomaggiore, from north to south.
Do you plan on flying into Milan, Venice, where? Cinque terre is quite beautiful, but a lot of time is not needed as the villages are very small. You can see it fairly well and hike some along the coast in a long day.
Arriving in Milan (which airport?), and assuming that you would be flying out from there, and that you would be travelling by train, you'll need to do a circular tour e.g. going first to Venice then (via Bologna, Florence and Pisa) right across the country to La Spezia for the CT villages, then (via Genoa) to Turin then back to Milan; but of course you could reverse this. Looking at the railway map might help, see www.italianrail.com/italy_railway_map.html
It's impossible to advise how long to spend in each place, as you are the only one who knows what you want to do there, and also the exact dates and times involved - for example, it makes a difference whether you are arriving somewhere early in the morning or late in the evening. Depending on exactly what you want to visit, I would advise you to check whether it is possible on the days on which you would "land" in the city concerned, for example museums may be closed on Monday - and of course 8, 9 and 24 April 2012 are public holidays in Italy.
Incidentally, I see you are a new user - for future reference, it would be really useful to give your questions a more precise title, e.g. "Itinerary for 15 days from Milan by train" (or whatever)!
Oh, we are flying into Milan. So one long day will be enough for Cinque terre.. Thanks!
