Limerick Forum: Something close to do for one day

As previously stated Adare Village is pretty www.adarevillage.com but it is a working village so its not completely disneyficated.

Castleconnell, off the N7 is lovely as well, as is Killaloe (take a left, further out on the N7)

A nice trip out to see Margaret a lovely lady that runs the Flying Boat Museme in Foynes have a wonderful lunch for about €10.0 the museme is owned by Maureen OHara her husband flew one of the first planes into Limerick and they have a wonderful replica of the Yankee Clipper and a great Museme.

Thank you both for those wonderful ideas, that's exactly what I was looking for...something light and easy to do and slightly off the beaten path. What about this town called Cashel...your opinions?

Cashel is more than a short drive away (its just over an hour's drive) from Limerick and is home to the famous "Rock of Cashel" www.cashel.ie

It is very visited and isn't off the beaten track by any manner or means.

Adare has an old abbey and is easy to walk around and you could see the flying boat museum the same day. They're both on the same side of the estuary.

You can head to Foynes and take in the museum. Then, continue along the Shannon estuary and on to Listowel. There are good places to eat and if it is a Friday, there is a farmers market in the square. I love passing at this time of the week and stopping at the market, having a walkabout lunch at the different stalls. The castle at Listowel was mentioned by another poster today as being worth a visit. There is a writers centre and the lovely St John's Theatre usually has art exhibitions by local artists. Ballybunion is only 7 miles away where, among other things, you can have an invigorating seaweed bath!
