Killarney Hotel - which one, Castlerosse or Quality

Hi Guys, could really do with any recommendation, for my birthday my mum is paying for me, OH and two little people to go away for a few nights and we have narrowed the search down to either Castlerosse or the Quality Killarney, would appreciate any opinions on either - are they worth €400 3 nights B + B for the four of us as this'll be the only holiday the kids get this year. Thanks

Not knowing what ages you kids are but I think they will have more fun at the Quality on the Cork Road rather than the Castlerosse on the Kilorglin Road. The Castlerosse is a nice hotel but in a more away from it all quieter setting. It is close to the National Park and championship golf courses but I think the family fun offered at the Quality will make for a better holiday.

I'd say the opposite, the Castlerosse has great space and a beautiful location and runs kids clubs too. The old Quality is on a roundabout. Friends who stayed in the Quality felt that it was ALL families with small children and that there was an attitude of "you have small kids, it'll do" from some of the staff. I admit to bias, in that we had our wedding reception at the Castlerosse, but any of the relations with small people still rave about it!

Please note that the Castlerosse Kiddies Club is for children aged 5 and upwards and is not as extensive as the one at the Quailty Hotel.

I think it really depends on what you want.

When we go away, we tend to like our own kids but are less benevolent towards the kids of others. If you are like us, then the Castlerosse is possibly better. There is more space.

If however, you want your kids completely immersed and have no problem tripping over and having close encounters with the other people's darlings, then the Quality may be better.

Throwing the cat among the pigeons, have you looked at the Holiday Inn or the Gleneagles? Both of them have a lot of child-centred activities.

There is no comparison. The Castlerosse is a fantastic hotel with one of the most beautiful views in the world. You will really feel like you are on holiday there instead of the mayhem in the Quality Hotel. There will be loads to do in Killarney anyway with or without kids clubs. The parklands around the Castlerosse Hotel alone, will give the children adventures that they will talk about for along time to come.

Enjoy your holiday.
