 Good Restaurant in Galway City

Hi I am taking my Husband to Galway City in August for his 40th Birthday and I am looking for a good restaurant, we both love Asain cuisine and seafood, I am a chef so I would be looking for something kinda special and fresh I have looked at alot of restaurants and there are mixed reviews on all that I have looked at. I am also looking at information on things to do we will be there for 3 days and we do want to visit one of the Arran Islands, any information would be greatly appreciated.

I can personally vouch for Ard Bia - one of the best meals of my life.

Hi Sdiver

For asian food try Tamarind: http://www.tamarind.ie/ or the Asian Tea House; http://www.asianteahouse.ie

One restaurant that has an excellent reputation that you might enjoy on one of your nights is the White Gables in Moycullen (15minutes from the city). Its not Asian and only has some seafood - but the food it does serve is excellent. Reservations are recommended especially for the Sunday lunch:

its not asian, but one of the best restaurants and perfect for a special occasion is Oscars on Dominick Street - great food and worth the little extra. Its a dining experience rather than just a meal

For Galway City Asian food

I would say Tamarind is the best choice.

You can look into the kitchen and see

what they are doing.

For a memorable experience for your husband I would recommend a trip to Inis Meain..there is an excellent restaurant there called Inis Meain Suites - however you would have to spend the night on the island. I have eaten there twice and the food is the freshest, simplest you can have. You could stay in An Dun as the Suites themselves are expensive, and you would have to stay two nights. www.inismeain.com/en/restaurant/index.html

While in Galway City, unfortunately one of the places on the top ten list is closed..Sheridans on the Docks...However Ard Bia still rates highly, and not for the special occasion but worth a visit is Da Tang Noodle (northern Chinese cuisine..very fresh) - on Middle Street. Enjoy....oh and a cocktail in the G Hotel or afternoon tea.

I would highly recommend Asian Tea House over Tamarind, had a bad experience in Tamarind a while back while we have gone and had great food in Tea House on 3 or 4 occasions not to mention the lovely staff.
