 Getting Around Dublin

Hi,

We have reservations for the Albion Apts (self catering) on Parnell Sq. Has anyone any experience with these?, and also, will it be fairly easy for us to get around downtown from there? Thanks!

Hi Bonny, I haven't stayed at the Albion Apartments, but Parnell Square is very central. You will have no problem accessing downtown Dublin as everything will be within walking distance.

Have a look at the tips on the right hand side of the page for things to see and do in Dublin.

Very central area so no bother getting around during the day , however i would not be walking around there late at night

There is also a bike scheme around Dublin - where you can rent a bike in one station (there is one at Parnell square) and leave it back anywhere in the city.

Tourists can rent bikes for €3 for a three day ticket using your credit card (only at some stations, Parnell square is one of them). The first half hour is free and fairly cheap after that. http://www.dublinbikes.ie

If you don't normally cycle in cities - just be really careful and slow cycling as it's not that bicycle friendly and not many lanes but I enjoy cycling in the city and it's very quick.

But where you are staying is very close to the city centre anyway.

In general be careful enough around that part of the city at night. I used to live nearby - it is ok, just have your wits about you

Thanks to all who replied, especially the heads up about late at night.

I'm a bit disturbed by this. I'm a woman travelling alone and I'm booked into Cassidy's at the top of O'Connell St.

I've seen comments saying be careful just as you would in any other city at night. That's OK by me.

But if someone says I shouldn't walk around there at night it makes me nervous.

Cassidy's is fine. I have female colleagues who stay there regularly when in Dublin on business. The usual "city smarts" are required but nothing more
