 Taste of Chester Tour

My husband and I are considering going on the Taste of Chester tour so would like some advice. We are vegetarians, my husband is a real foodie as well as a lover of history. My question is whether anyone has been on the tour and can tell us about the tour. In particular we would like to know how much of the tour focuses on meat. We don't mind some, as long as it is accompanied by interesting history. Is there a diverse range of product?

Any info would be appreciated.

Oh, and can anyone suggest any restaurants/cafes that are either vegetarian or particularly veg friendly?

Cheers.

I can vouch for the Cheese Shop which the review said she visited on her tour - it is amazing!

the veg group link is quite out of date, Brasserie 10-16 and Caffe Uno have both long gone, there could be others.

They have listed just about every restaurant in Chester, every restaurant has a 'vegetarian option' on their menu. These are not restaurants that specialise in vegetarain food, and I can't think of one you could call vegan.

you will have plenty of places you can dine in, best to check thei choice suits you before you commit to staying!

Have a great trip.

Thanks PennyW

I noticed that it was out of date and that the writer had been a little 'liberal' in the restaurant listings. With many of the links to those restaurants only stating that they had written to the restaurant to get info on vegan/vegetarian choices with no response yet. Oh well, it was a nice concept with obviously big plans!

We are use to going to restaurants where there is just a choice or two on the menu suitable for us. The UK does however have many more purely veg restaurants than what we are use to. We will keep an eye out for them and when not available we make the most of other options. We are looking forward to trying different things, even simple things like trying cuisines that are popular here but will be different there.

Thank you again.
