The really nice beaches are over in the sister island of Tobago. You can take a ferry ride (2 hours) over for a reasonable fee. On Trinidad there is Maracas bay that is okay too.

Look in past messages here for contact info. for Charlie who gets good reviews from visitors who use him for day trips and for checking out the various ethnic foods.

Agrred with chuts. The nicer beaches are in Tobago-Pigeon Point, Englishman's Bay, Pirate's Bay. If you are here for a week you should certainly try to head across for a day or more. In Tobago there is also the rainforest preserve where you can go hiking.

In Trinidad, Maracas beach is very nice beach. There are some others like Mayaro and Manzanilla and Toco but are harder to get to and may be quite deserted depending on when you visit. For nature you may want to head out to Chaguramas peninsula. Or Asa Wright bird center where you can bird watch and go on some nature trails.

Unfortunately our cultural sites are not well developed for visitors. However they include the Hanuman murti and the Temple in the Sea in Waterloo. Definitely try the various street foods that can be sampled around the savannah and in Port of Spain.

I had the name of a tour guide. Will post it if I can find it.

Hope this helps.

Imay be a little biased but you cannot go to T&T without at least passing through StJames. There is Fort George, the Hindu Mandir and the Police Barracks. When you are done either night or day there is enough samplings of foodfare to indulge in. If you go at night there isthe famous Smokey & Bunty or Hios' Oasis to cool the heat of the night. I would recommend that you go accompanied. As with any City if you have someone who is knowledgeable of that City it is a lot easier to navigate. I hope that thi s reaches you in time have a safe trip and return home safely.
