What is the cost of VUSA Ticket for 2 Adults (60+) on the following route ---
a) Detroit - Minneapolis
b) Minneapolis - Honolulu
c) Honolulu - San Francisco
You will need to ask a travel agent.
You should also be aware that flying standby on some routes, and of your routes, Honolulu - San Francisco would be a biggie, they could have you waiting literally for days. I know someone who gave up waiting at Honolulu going back to LAX and just bought a ticket after three days.
Standby tickets are for time rich people. If you are on a schedule this is unlikely to work well, look at lower cost airlines like Southwest instead.
What does VUSA mean? I have never seen that before.

====
The Visit USA pass consist of a book of coupons - each representing one flight, and valid for 60 - 120 days from the use of the first coupon.
It allows foreign nationals or US citizens who reside abroad to purchase tickets that have unlimited >>>standby<<< travel within the US during their stay. The tickets must be purchased abroad, usually in conjunction with an International round-trip ticket; and must be purchased before departing for the US.

Also hadnt heard of it before today
Edited: 9 years agoThanks for the link joe!
Standby travel here in the USA is not common anymore except for those folks who work for the airlines or who have friends/family who work for an airline.
The reason it is not so common now is that planes often fly full so there are no standby seats left for anyone!! It is a kind of risky way to try to go from city to city unless you do lots of research to know which flights tend to be emptier than others!!
Riff,
Joe just taught me something too.
Once, TransTexas, later Texas International, used to sell a product like this - standby tickets that could be used in a time period from Friday, until Monday, for anywhere that the airline flew - mostly Texas, but with Louisiana and, IIRC, New Mexico.
I have not noticed such a product in many years, and erroneously assumed they no longer existed.
Now I know better, and thanks Joe,
Hunt
I only found it through Google, and only found that one reference to it, which interestingly was an Indian website so maybe its almost defunct and just aimed at the Indian demographic these days? As said there is a good reason that standby has pretty much died out.
This has been discussed here before:
Discussed but not resolved Gracie-Boo. Just questions and no answers there. And its 3 years old.
I am wondering if these passes are actually available still or this is just an old web page and they are not available these days
The OP will need to do their own research on this.
You can find info about these tickets on AA's web page, so assume they are still available. Not sure how useful they would be, with flights in the US so full, or if it's a big financial advantage.
Where to buy VUSA ticket in Kolkata?Calcutta ?
