It was nicely prepared, and generous proportions. Our server was a young lad, very nice and helpful. I brought some birthday candles that they put on the cake and we all sang "Happy Birthday". This I think my sister could have done without, as none of us can carry a tune. The only thing I would do differently is request a smaller cake. After a few drinks, a starter and main course, everyone was a little full for dessert. This is a nice pub with a pleasant atmosphere. If you are out by Melksham, give it a go. I like the fact that the seating and tables vary, i.e. are not all the same. It is laid out randomly with garden themed artefacts. In the winter they have lovely wood stoves to keep it warm and in the summer there is a pleasant garden to sit in. There is plenty of free parking, it is ideal to take someone who cannot walk too far. The spaciousness means they can accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs easily. I agree the toilet facilities could do with improvement. The food is not grand and the menu is limited but all the food is always freshly cooked and delicious.
