"Want to save a pile-o-money and have some great food and beer? Then skip The Pelican, eat and drink here and then head to the beach with a six pack or a bottle of wine and enjoy Cape Kiwanda!
I had always passed by this place and dined and drank at The Pelican. Well, those days are gone my frie..."nd, I thought they'd never end...until now! I went here with a group of girlfriends during my birthday weekend and we all ordered the tacos and a beer. Their fish tacos are fabulous! And at $3 a pop it is a steal! Ordered two and a Pacifico and paid $9 total.
It doesn't have the view of the place next door but who cares when you can just walk down and sit on the beach without paying the crazy expensive prices for mediocre food next door!

"I like to find non-Starbucks coffee shops when I'm out and about. Stimulus Cafe in Pacific City is a fine example of why it's worth the search. Great service ... with only 2 baristas behind the counter, they handled a line that wrapped around the cafe, with ease and speed. I tried their dark chocola..."te mocha and it was amazing. My husband, pretty much a non-coffee drinker, tried their hot chocolate coffee drink and barely tasted the coffee! They have both sweet and spicy chai and mixed them together for a wonderful hot chai. Had to try a cinnamon roll ... they rate a pretty good, not great. Could use raisins or dried cranberries or cherries in them or something. A bit bland. Also tried the quiche for lunch. Tasty! Plus the baristas happily warm up your food. On a cold, wet day at the beach, it all hits the spot.
The "I Got Stimulated" t's and hoodies are cute. There's even a few shelves of books for sale. Or you can simply take a seat, sip away and enjoy your drink. I'll go back.

"We were over in Pacific City, Oregon this past weekend to meet up with a friend after he rode the Reach the Beach Ride (I rode last year but in light of Saturday's rain was glad I got to eat scones from Grateful Bread this year in lieu of riding in the rain). The bacon-cheddar scone hit the spot for..." breakfast, followed by the cherry-almond and marionberry scones (we shared!). You know how some scones are too dense? Or how some can taste too much like dull old bread? Not these. The added flavors shone through. They were fluffy without being light.
Didn't have a chance to eat a full breakfast here. Next time!
