  "Every town seems to have its Main Street restaurant that is not too fancy but provides solid homestyle cooking in a comfortable location. Zante's is Bowmanville's contribution. I would not consider Zante's to be fine dining, but it is a step above a family restaurant. Service is very friendly. Gree..."k standards are there (dolmades, Mousaka, souvlaki) but I would consider the food to be "Greek Lite," with the Greek items somewhat "Canadianized." There are also steak and pasta options available. The restaurant offers a nice Retsina wine and at a very good price for 500 mL. Portions are average in size. The Greek salad was okay (too much lettuce), and the calamari was good but not great. We had the Platter for Two. The lamb was very good, and the other items were good.   "We visited on a Thursday evening. The special was a pound of wings and fries for $4.99 with the purchase of a drink. The wings tasty and meaty. A couple of the ladies thought it was very loud,but it is a bar and the Leafs were playing. $20.00 for two, wing, fries, pop and tip."

  "We went with a group of 12 people and were seated quickly with a smile. Drinks were served quick, and refilled just as quickly without asking. The food was hot and well prepared. One of the better Swiss Chalet restaurants I have visited."
