"Yamazushi is tucked away in a strip mall and at first sight is unexceptional. It would be easy to assume that is it just another of those average "multicolour rolls with fake wasabi" joints that ubiquitous in the USA. However a second look suggests something more refined and a recent meal here was t..."he closest I have had to traditional japanese food in the Raleigh Durham area.
Yamazushi serves a fixed kaiseki menu for $85 a head - which can be accompanied by a range of sakes and teas. Since I was driving I had tea which was correctly made and very good quality.
The food was good - probably the best japanese food in the area - but the quality was patchy. Sashimi was average. I have had better elsewhere in the area so really good fresh fish can be sourced here. After all North Carolina is a coastal state so flabby tired fish is difficult to forgive. Other courses were better especially the boiled and grilled ones and the service was pleasant if not very professional.

"This is one of my favorite places to grab breakfast. Period. We always make a point to have at least 2-3 trips here on any given trip out to North Carolina. My favorite is scrambled eggs on one of their their biscuits, granola plus fruit is also yummy as well. It's really the ambience i love most - ..."the fresh wild flowers in mason jars, wood tables, funky chairs and the porch out front. I heart Fosters! This location over the Chapel Hill one any day =)

"Parker and Otis has a great atmosphere and the staff are normally very friendly. It's a good place to go for either breakfast or lunch--they have wonderful combinations of eggs that are cooked nicely and come in large portions (my favorite is the ham & asparagus eggs).
The sandwiches are also ve..."ry good and taste fresh, and they have some options for vegetarians too such as the white bean, bean sprout, tomato & avocado sandwich, which I highly recommend. It is a good deal for the price due to the nicely sized portions.
They also have a cafe area for coffee & cute (but expensive) shopping area with knick knacks. Overall it gives the feel of Durham with its hardwood floors and brick, and I would definitely recommend it.
